Style Notes

Mid century modern meets beach house. The hotel opened in the 1950s and has a strong link to its heritage, with cheery colors and textual elements mixed with playful prints. The overall feel is of a family beach house staffed by beach-lovers - the beach is the thing today, just as it was in the 1950s when stars including Stan Laurel stayed in the hotel. Luxe Egyptian cotton linens, plush Frette bathrobes and C.O. Bigelow bath amenities add layers of comfort and charm.

Lovely room! So close to the beach. The pool was clean, and the facilities were super easy to use. We were there with our families for thanksgiving. We will likely come back, it was so perfect for what we needed!

We loved our stay at this Hotel! The staff were very helpful right from the reservation process through to check out. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived so we were offered complimentary appetizers and a glass of champagne which was much appreciated after a 12 hour flight with 2 small children! Highly recommend getting one of their Lanai Suite with Kitchenette if you have small children. It has a large lounge area and separate bedroom. Having a stove top and sink was very helpful for bottles and baby food not to mention being on ground level with the pool at your door step. We had our baby monitor so could enjoy some peace and quiet while they slept. There were other young families there too and a very friendly and relaxed clientele. The location is great and a short walk to 3rd Promenade, Wholefoods for supplies and the Pier. Venice Beach is an easy walk too if you have a stroller. The Tower 8 restaurant was fantastic and had a selection of healthy kid meal options too. We look forward to staying there again soon.

Santa Monica, Los Angeles

Sun, Fun and Ice Cream

With three and a half miles of beach, Santa Monica is full of classic California scenery. Grab ice creams, crash bumper cars, and take a ride on the 9-story Ferris Wheel on Santa Monica pier, a kid’s dream destination. Afterward, test your strength on the climbing ropes and rings on the adjacent beach. Then cool off inside - kids under 12 get in free at the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium. Whatever kind of fun in the sun you seek, it’s here in Santa Monica.
