Perks for the Parents

Set on top of a verdant hill in the town of Sayulita, overlooking the Pacific coastline, this 5-bedroom home with a pool includes space to play inside and out, and is a short walk to the beach. With views of the ocean, the lush foothills of the Sierra Madre and the vibrant town of Sayulita, it is a great place to stay. The house and grounds provides a private retreat high above the town and the sea but only a short walk to all the local charm and beaches of Sayulita. To make life easier, in-room spa treatments are possible along with a daily maid service, grocery delivery and private chefs and restaurant recommendations.

Why Kids Love it

The house is a 5-minute walk to the beach and has a heated infinity pool (14’ x 40’). While toys and books are not provided, the location makes it easy with kids. An Mp3 player and table games are provided and there is WiFi. Local activities include playing at the beach, surfing, horseback riding, whale watching (in season) and tropical adventures in the nearby rainforest, with ziplining, mountain biking and forest trekking included. Local tour operators run multiple tours; the in-house manager can help arrange and book what you need. Fishing and golf are also popular. Note this property is best for kids age 6+.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 night minimum over Christmas, New Years and Easter. There is a sister property next door, The Casita Mimas Residence, which can be booked alongside this one for a larger group (total 14). Those with very young children should be mindful that this property has no stair gates or pool gates; children must be supervised on the balconies at all times. There are a lot of steps in the garden area and an open staircase in the outdoor dining area. It is better for children over the age of 6, or those with babes in arms; we do not recommend this property for crawling babies or toddlers. Daily maid service included along with WiFi and washer-dryer. Extras including spa services, pre-arrival shopping and a private chef can be arranged with the host on booking.

About the Location

The residence is around 5 minutes' walk from Sayulita’s main beach, and is set just outside the main town on a hill with views of the coast, town and rainforest. The closest airport is Puerto Vallarta international airport, around 40 minutes away. Sayulita is a major surf town with a laid back atmosphere. Its streets are alive with taco stands, fruit stalls, boutiques, galleries and surf shops. The residence is a short walk to the main beach, and other beaches are just a short drive away. Car hire is useful if you plan to travel beyond the town; taxis are freely available in Sayulita.

Accommodation Details

This newly built villa is surrounded by lush gardens. It includes 5 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, all with kingsize beds, ceiling fans, safes, sitting areas and private decks. There is an open air living room and a gourmet kitchen with gas stove, microwave and a large dining table. The private garden includes lounge chairs and sunbeds plus a barbecue and a private infinity edge pool. Bathrooms have showers, not bath tubs. A twin bed can be added to any room.

Style Notes

Barefoot luxury. This beautiful new villa is sculpted with curvaceous shapes and soft colors and is owned by an architect. Designed to reflect the local colors and style, there is a thoughtful infusion of modern urban vibe and minimalism. Bedrooms are spacious and the palapa roofs add a dash of bohemian style. We love the sensational views and the relaxed feel throughout, with color-block walls, lanterns and canopied or 4-poster beds.

Mark and I have been collecting homes in beautiful places since 2007 in Italy and Mexico. We buy them, fully restore them, and make them available to guests! We love doing this and sharing them and take great pride in doing so!

Sayulita, Riviera Nayarit

Tacos, tortillas and chocolate-dipped bananas

It’s all about the sea here in beautiful Sayulita, a quirky, hippy and very desirable Mexican Riviera town with cute shops and a buzzing beach scene. Kids can play, dig, whale watch and spot sea turtles; for parents there’s surf, yoga and stand up paddle boarding as well as a relaxing pace of life.
