A contemporary family residence located in the charming, laid-back Magnolia neighborhood, walking distance to restaurants, and 10 minutes’ drive from downtown Seattle. It sleeps 5 + 3. Parents and kids have plenty of space with 2 large living areas, 2 offices, 2 bathrooms with bathtubs, a family-sized dining area and a huge deck with water views, ideal for enjoying the long summer evenings. The hosts have a young family so the residence is well set up for kids with plenty to keep them occupied, including a magical garden treehouse. The residence comes with 2 bikes (1 electric) for exploring the local neighborhood which has a variety of restaurants, cafes and playgrounds to discover, as well as Seattle’s largest park with over 12 miles of trails - and a beach. Downtown Seattle is just 10 minutes by car or 30 minutes by bike with museums, boutiques and a thriving foodie scene.

Why Kids Love it

Kids will find lots to love at this residence, with plenty set up just for them. There’s a spacious playroom in the daylit basement, fully stocked with toys and books and a large additional lounge area with a meal/snack time nook and a large TV for movie screenings and downtime. The kids’ bedrooms are bright and colorful with convertible cribs and single beds and more toys to play with. The daylit basement offers additional sleeping space ideal for a nanny or au pair. There’s a huge back yard to explore and a treehouse that the kids will adore, plus outdoor toys for kids of all ages, including a jungle gym, slide, mini trampoline, pedal bike, balance bike, and scooters. The local area is peaceful and family-friendly, with sidewalks large enough to cycle or scoot, and playgrounds and a swimming pool walking distance away. Bikes are provided for keen cyclists and Discovery Park with its trails and woodland play area is just 15 minutes ride away. Two cribs, 2 highchairs, baby toys and a baby bath are provided.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 night. There is a private driveway with covered parking, as well as street parking; the host's might be able to offer car hire if requested. Please note that the bedroom with the queensize bed is in a daylight basement and is set up as a multiuse room with kids' playroom, office, and home gym with a Peloton bike. The hosts provide an electric bike and a pedal bike for guests. The residence has Wifi throughout. There is a washer/dryer. The host can provide details on local babysitters and in-house catering if required. There is a raised outdoor deck area with glass balustrades and stairs down to the yard which younger ones should be supervised around. Pets are welcome; please notify hosts at the time of booking.

About the Location

Centrally located in one of Seattle’s most desirable neighborhoods, Magnolia enjoys an idyllic location on a nature-rich peninsula of the Puget sound whilst also enjoying easy access to downtown Seattle just 10 minutes away by car. There are local restaurants and cafes on the doorstep and Magnolia village with its hub of bakeries, pubs, coffee shops, stores and global cuisine is a 15-minute walk or 5 minute cycle. The hip waterfront town of Ballard is 10 minutes’ drive, and it’s 20 minutes to Capitol Hill. West Green Lake is 10 minute's drive, and it's 5 minutes to the nearest beach at Discovery park. The closest airport is Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, 30 minutes from the residence.

Accommodation Details

The residence is a detached modern 'Tudor' home with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms set over 3 floors. On the ground floor are 2 large living spaces – 1 with 2 sofas, a fireplace and terrace access, and the other with a sofa, flatscreen TV and breakfast nook with window seating. There is a formal dining room with a family-sized table seating 8 and a fully-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, coffee maker and everything a guest would expect. There are 4 bedrooms – the primary bedroom is on the ground floor and has a kingsize bed and an ensuite bathroom with bathtub. Upstairs there are 2 kids’ rooms – 1 with a twinsize bed and 1 with an air bed, as well as an office room. There is a separate family bathroom with a bath tub for use by these bedrooms. The fourth bedroom is in the basement – a daylit multipurpose space with a queensize bed, a gym with a Peloton bike and a play area. Outside, there is a spacious deck area with glass balcony, a huge garden with hedges, plants and lawns, a patio area with benches and a kid’s treehouse.

Style Notes

Contemporary charm. A lovingly renovated 1920’s ‘Tudor’ house which is bright, modern and full of character. Slate roofs and red brick walls are flanked by flowering bushes, mature trees and lamp-lit pathways, creating a warm welcome. Interior décor is west coast causal with a light and breezy style inviting guests to sit back and relax. Mid-century modern furniture, art deco fireplaces and twenties’ detailing are mixed with bold artworks, textiles and arched feature windows and doors. We love the multi-level garden which spans the front and back of the residence combining green planted areas, seating nooks and a kids’ cabin with an elevated modern deck, positioned to take in the stunning watery views towards Puget Sound.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 15% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 15% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
