Perks for the Parents

This charming wooden cottage in Seignosse, walking distance from the beach and 100ft from the Landes forest, is ideal for lazy days by the coast, evenings relaxing in the hot tub and letting the kids explore. The house is in a quiet hilltop area within walking distance of the beach and 2 restaurants, both an easy 5 minutes away. The beach and local area is known for its surf; nearby towns to visit include Biarritz, Bayonne and San Sebastian, just over the border in Spain. After a day at the beach, the 5-person jacuzzi on the deck is great for evening relaxation.

Why Kids Love it

This multi-level house is on a hillside with a large yard to explore, and the Landes Forest just 100 feet away. There is a trail that leads into the fores from the property for exploration, running, mountain biking, etc. It is perfect for children aged 5 and up. There is cable TV with all children's channels available and plenty of playful items to amuse the kids in the house, plus a children's bedroom with a bunkbed and toys. Both bathrooms have Italian-style showers, not tubs, and there is limited provision for toddlers and babies.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 days. Parking is available in front of the house. There are 2 stairways equipped with wooden safety gates, and the front gate locks. Children may need supervision in the hot tub. No pets. There is gated entry with an adjacent area to store bicycles, beach articles or surfboards while your family are not using them. Car rental is useful for exploring the local area, down to the Spanish border, and will be essential for reaching the property. The owners have a cat who will be away during your stay.

About the Location

The house is about 1km walk from Plage des Bourdaines in Seignosse, southwest France, backing on to the Les Landes forest. It is a quiet neighbourhood with little vehicle traffic, and is great for bike rides. A short walk away there are restaurants; Seignosse and Hossegor are just a 7-minute drive away. Nearby attractions include a water park 10 minutes’ walk away, plus tennis courts, miniature golf, and a skate park. Biarritz airport is a 40-minute drive away while Bordeaux airport is just under 2 hours’ drive away.

Accommodation Details

This 2-story modern wood house above Les Bourdaines is built on an incline and has 2 large sunny terraces. The upstairs is a large open living room area with a dining table, open kitchen, and a WC. There are 2 master bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms (1 with queensize and 1 with fullsize/double bed), and 2 smaller rooms - 1 suitable for children with a bunkbed and the other with a double bed. Bathrooms are shower only. The large garden area has a gas barbecue and jacuzzi on the lower terrace.

Style Notes

Cabin chic. This cottage-style wooden house has an eclectic mix of artwork, including black and white rockstar photography mixed with slogans, Picasso prints and modern illustrations, plus some classical contemporary designer's furniture. It is sunny all afternoon on the wooden terraces, and the large, naturally lit, open living area has beautiful interior carpentry and a wood stove. The modern open kitchen opens to terrace #1 for easy outdoor dining. We love its playful, easy-going style.

We are a family of one child, living in a surfing town

Seignosse, Landes

Sand, surf and seagulls

Just north of Hossegor on France’s golden Atlantic coast, this area is know for one major sport: surfing. Part of the Landes departement, its waves at Le Penon and Les Bourdaines are internationally renowned. Beyond the beach, wild, sandy and enticing as it is, it is easy to day trip into Biarritz and Bayonne, and to take longer trips across the border to San Sebastian and northern Spain for a tapas lunch.
