Retreat to this sea-side eco sanctuary on the north coast of Sicily, surrounded by lush Mediterranean gardens and spectacular panoramic views. It sleeps 5 + 1. This is the perfect place for parents to unwind and relax - take a dip in the private natural pool, snooze on the swinging hammock or relax on the pool-side day bed while the kids play. The hosts are on hand to help with additional treats such as booking massages, cooking special meals, preparing cocktails, additional cleaning, organising a private driver, grocery deliveries and generally customizing your experience to suit your individual needs to make sure your trip is a breeze.

Why Kids Love it

Children of all ages will love living freely in this natural environment. The sea is literally right below the house, with pebble and sandy beaches where families will have access to loungers and umbrellas. Kids can explore the surrounding areas and create their own natural playground - this is a private and tranquil safe space. Ask the hosts for help with organising family-friendly activities such as art classes, boat cruises, fishing trips or movie nights under the stars. The property is also equipped with a high chair, crib, baby bath, changing table, children’s dinnerware and a toddler bed on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights. The property is adorned with wood acrylic paintings and artifacts by local artists - all artwork is for sale. Sustainability is at the forefront here: there is no plastic inside the property and most of the furniture is made in-house with collected driftwood. The 6 x 3m pool is a natural pool (140cm deep), made with lime stone and volcanic ashes. Bathroom toiletries, linens and pool towels are included. Guests will receive a welcome hamper packed with Sicilian wines and beers, fruit juices, cured meat, local cheese, mineral water, soft drinks, mini bar, dry pantry, Espresso Lavazza coffee pods, assorted teas, biscuits and special items for families with small kids. The bed configuration can be adjusted based on the needs of guests: a crib can be added to one bedroom and the other can be set up with a double and single bed, 3 single beds, or a double with a toddler bed and crib.

About the Location

The residence is located in the heart of the Madonie Mountain Park pine ridge forest in Sicily. It’s 5km from the town of Cefalu and 1.5km from the fishing village of Saint Ambrogio, where you’ll find small trattorias and coffee shops. The house has gorgeous panoramic views of the Tyrrhenian sea and the Aeolian Islands, with no neighbors and beautiful natural surroundings. In the local vicinity you’ll only find other villas and a small boutique resort (Valle Grande). Catania airport is around 3 hours away by car; Palermo is around 1 hour, 15 minutes. Car rental is essential.

Accommodation Details

This home has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, all set on 1 floor. Each bedroom has an independent entrance and bathroom with rain shower: 1 bedroom has a double bed with room for a crib; the other has either a double bed plus a single, 2 or 3 single beds, or a toddler bed and crib. Both bedrooms have memory foam bedding with goose feather toppers, memory pillows, ceiling fans, window blinds and shade curtains. There’s also a small indoor kitchen and living area. Outside there’s a sheltered outdoor kitchen with sea views, BBQ and mini-bar furnished with local organic fruits, Sicilian wines and soft drinks. The outdoor space has multiple lounging areas and dining areas.

Style Notes

Coastal rustic. This recently renovated cottage has been decorated with seaside-inspired colors, beachy accents and coastal driftwood textures, designed to withstand sandy feet and salty air. The outdoor living space is designed with a rough texture that casts unique shadows throughout the day, making the space feel as though it is constantly evolving. The hosts have chosen eco-friendly materials to renovate the space, including hand-sculptured indigenous stones, chestnut tree beams and ancient clay tiles. We love the boho mixed textiles outside, the traditional exposed stone walls and the charming traditional kitchen.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.

Long legged Italy, so goes the rhyme, kicked this beautiful island into the Mediterranean beside it, and it’s a great place for a family vacation. You could spend days on the beaches or exploring ancient ruins, but there’s more to do than that - scale Mount Etna by cable car, then play at the adventure playground at its base, visit castles and catacombs, eat gelato in pretty squares and enjoy puppet theater productions in true Sicilian style.
