Perks for the Parents

This 1920s heritage home is set in an acre of tropical gardens with a private pool and is short walk away from Asia’s famous shopping street, Orchard Road. It sleeps up to 4 +1. Relax by the pool and in the cool of the house or explore the sights of the city. Singapore has plenty for little ones with public parks, kid-friendly restaurants, indoor playgrounds and plenty of free waterparks. For parents who are after a culture hit, Singapore Art Museum, Peranakan Museum and the breath-taking National Gallery with its world-class 19th century artworks are all within 30 minutes by public transit.

Why Kids Love it

Children of all ages will enjoy hanging out in the large private pool. The gardens are extensive and great for exploring – it’s unusual to have so much space in the centre of the city. There is a swing, a sand pit, a pond with Koi fish and a play room with toys and games to keep kids amused. Venture out and it’s a 30-minute walk to a UNESCO World Heritage Site of Singapore’s Botanic Gardens that includes a Jacob Ballas Children's Garden with interactive displays and a waterfall cave. Alternatively, the free waterpark, Far East Organization Children, is 15 minutes’ walk and has water tunnels, stepping jets and a safe playzone for toddlers. There are a lot of indoor playgrounds in malls like Bounce, just 2 minutes away across the road. The closest outdoor playground is at the botanical gardens, a 5-minute cab ride away.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights. The swimming pool is ungated so young children will need close supervision. There are a cat and 2 friendly dogs living at the property. There is a permanent staff on the property, a housekeeper who takes care of the dogs and can help guests with simple requests like ironing, washing, grocery shopping, cooking and babysitting on request. Guests have to pay for ingredients and the extra services. Cleaning is included. A baby changing table and baby bath are included. There are no internal stairs but there are steps leading up to the front door. The residence is available for private parties.

About the Location

The residence is in the Orchard Road area of central Singapore. It is approximately 20 minutes by taxi from Singapore Changi International Airport. Set in over an acre of heritage gardens and surrounded by skyscrapers, this unusual property is a city oasis. Singapore Zoo is 20 minutes by taxi and the beautiful Gardens by the Bay are only 10 minutes away. A car is not essential however there is parking for up to 5 cars available at the property. Taxi or Singapore’s MRT (mass rapid transit) system is the fastest way to get around the city.

Accommodation Details

This city residence has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (2 have bath tubs) and is on one level. The house has a spacious living room, well-appointed kitchen and separate dining room facing onto a large terrace with outdoor seating and overlooking the pool. There is a master bedroom with a kingsize bed and an ensuite bathroom, a kids’ room with a toddler bed, a wooden baby crib and its own ensuite, plus a guest room with 2 single beds and access to a family bathroom. Outside there are private gardens, and a pool and deck area with sun loungers and umbrellas, all surrounded by tall trees.

Style Notes

City chic. The interior is mainly neutral with pops of bright colour and hide rugs scattered on ethic-style flooring. The owners are interior designers and many of the design pieces have been designed or collected over the years from travels around the world. We love the circular purple velvet love seat in the entrance hall, the huge bookshelf that takes up an entire wall of the living room and the romantic four-poster master bed, not forgetting the beautiful pool area and gardens.

Singapore, Southeast Asia

Welcome to the Asian playground!

Singapore might be small, but it's definitely mighty when it comes to family travel. From botanical gardens with jaw-dropping flowers, cable car rides, and awesome street food to night safaris, water parks and more on Sentosa Island and heritage areas bursting with color and temples, it's much more than a stopover destination. Just one tip from your writer here - don't try the Durian ice cream. It's not a flavor to savor...
