Perks for the Parents

Charming and stylish, this family apartment in a beautiful building in South Pigalle includes modern art and design, plenty for the kids and a well equipped kitchen for family meals. There is plenty to marvel at: not just the classic Parisian moldings and wooden floors but also clever mezzanine levels in the children’s bedrooms, making the most of the space, and a fabulous lounge/study with 2 walls of stained glass windows. A mix of contemporary and classic styles, it is highly central and is perfect for 3-5 children. The family-sized living room and diner table makes mealtime fun if you’re eating in; if not, the restaurants and terraces of South Pigalle allow for an authentic Parisian experience.

Why Kids Love it

The kids rooms are full of toys and are bright and colorful. Set up with a mezzanine level with stairs, the beds are in a hidey hole at the top which is sure to excite them. Note that because of the stairs, they are better for children aged 7 and up; for babies and toddlers, cribs can be placed in the lower part of the room. The apartment is a short walk from the beautiful playgrounds of the Musée de la Vie Romantique and Place Saint Georges. Children can play in the courtyard. The property is great for older kids and for babies too - you don't have to pack many extra items, with a crib, stroller, high chair, baby toys and a baby bath provided on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 4 days. The apartment is in an elegant classical Haussmann building. Some bedrooms have doors to the balcony, which can be closed/locked. Note that the kids beds are on a mezzanine level, accessed by stairs, and are suitable for age 7 +. There is a car park in the courtyard for a maximum 1,9m large car. Car rental not essential in this part of central Paris - driving and parking elsewhere can be challenging and there is reliable public transportation and taxi services nearby. Art galleries and historic monuments are a short walk away.

About the Location

The residence is in the 9th arrondissement, a central yet family-friendly area with a lot of charming places and restaurants, and is close to Montmartre. It is a 15-minute taxi ride from the Gare du Nord for Eurostar and a 30-minute drive from Charles de Gaulle airport. In the heart of South Pigalle, this residence has buzzy cafés with terraces at place Toudouze, avenue de Trudaine and Place Saint Georges. It is very closes to Galeries Lafayette and at a few steps from la Rue des Martyrs, the center of foodie Paris.

Accommodation Details

This 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom apartment has a full kitchen and family-sized dining area, along with a stylish and spacious living room. There is 1 master bedroom with a queensize bed, 3 children bedrooms (that can communicate), each with 3 beds on a mezzanine (minimum 7 years old), plus 1 classical children bed and 1 double sofa bed in the office. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a rain shower. The residence has 2 other family bathrooms with a bathtub for the kids. The dining area has an extending leaf table suitable for 6 to 12 people. The kitchen has a dishwasher, oven, microwave, refrigerator with freezer, Nespresso coffee machine, tea boiler, toaster, and more. There is a laundry with washer-dryer, iron and ironing board.

Style Notes

Contemporary Paris. This historical apartment in a classic Haussmann building has all the hallmarks of a traditional Parisian pad: antique pieces, crown moldings, stained glass windows and gilded mirrors. Add to that a dash of modern panache: large scale contemporary art, an Arco light, dark walls and uniquely designed rooms, and it creates a fabulous family residence. The flat was totally renovated in 2017 with a well known Parisian architect to create a solution that works for a family. We love the hidey hole bedrooms, the soothing and symmetrical lounge, the scarlet chairs in the clever kitchen and the unique art throughout.

Quitterie and I have 3 daughters (9,7,5 years old) and a 3 months old baby. We live in Paris and love our apartment and our district South Pigalle ! Our children play Tennis, Piano. They learn dancing. We love travelling around the world.

South Pigalle, The 9th arrondissement

Bourgeois, bohemian and beautiful

So-Pi is one of Paris’ hippest districts, complete with fashionable boutiques, a bo-bo crowd, romantic squares and grand mansions. The jewel in its crown is rue des Martyrs, a foodie paradise of gourmet shops and cafés including a Corsican delicatessen and a bakery serving the best baguettes in the city. For kids, there’s a small park where the road crosses Notre Dame de Lorette.
