Perks for the Parents

This charming 100-year-old Southampton cottage in the heart of the village has a heated pool and is close to bay and ocean beaches. It sleeps up to 7. A recent renovation has preserved all the charm of this historic gem, while adding modern and sleek conveniences and lovely finishes. Note that the pool is very close to the house - a benefit for some but not all - and is visible from the living room and kitchen. Dining al fresco in the pretty garden is an attraction here, as well as morning swims before breakfast.

Why Kids Love it

Kids will love the pool and pool toys. There is plenty to do nearby - biking or scooting on the one-way street and plenty of playgrounds to walk to. Kids can stroll to the village for a gelato at Sant Ambroeus, while parents go for coffee. Older children can chill on the front porch swing after a day at the beach or enjoy their own hang-out space in the pool house. Sea and sand await at the ocean and bay beaches. Cooper’s Beach is a 7-minute drive away.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 weeks in July and August. No smoking is allowed. Pets are welcome on a case-by-case basis with an extra security deposit. Note that the pool is very close to the house but it features an automatic pool cover, which can close access to the pool with the click of a button, and the pool can be heated if required. One of the upstairs bedrooms has a trundle, so up to 3 kids can sleep there. The third bedroom is flexible, so depending on your needs it can be set up as a bedroom, office or TV play room. Baby gear can be provided and the house comes with plenty of toys, games and bikes/scooters for all ages.

About the Location

The cottage is located in the heart of Southampton village on a quaint, one-way street. It is 2 blocks from shopping and restaurants and a short walk or bike ride to the beach. The location is fabulous for families and within easy walking distance to playgrounds, a library, a toy store, farmer’s market, cultural center, and fun shops and restaurants. Citarella, a gourmet grocery store is only 2 blocks away. Southampton is around 2 hours from New York City and can be reached by Jitney. The closest airport is Long Island Macarthur Airport, an hour away.

Accommodation Details

This residence has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. On the ground floor, the living room and well-equipped kitchen both have views of the pool. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a kingsize bed and ensuite bathroom with a tub. There are 2 other bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms – 1 queensize with trundle and 1 full/ double murphy bed. The fourth bathroom is in the pool house. All bedrooms have a TV, plus there are TVs in the kitchen and pool house (cable and Apple TV). There is also a Sonos sound system on the first floor of the house. Outside, there are gardens with outdoor dining table and chairs, a pool, sun loungers and a pool house.

Style Notes

Luxury beach house. This vintage cottage has a bright, beach feel. The kitchen and fireplace are a green soapstone and there are beautiful wood finishes throughout the house, including window and door mouldings that are typical of traditional homes on the street. The upstairs bedrooms have vaulted ceilings which add to the light, airy feeling. We love white wood panelling that goes so well in a beach house, the bold, black walls and grey marble in 1 of the bathrooms and the inviting private pool.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.

It has all the ingredients of a very special family trip.
