Perks for the Parents
Get away to this tropical paradise on the ocean, with on-site staff, beach access and a sloping swimming pool with a kids water slide. It sleeps 16. This beautiful home boasts so many tranquil and luxurious features for parents, from the staggering views of the ocean and the spacious outdoor yoga pavilion, to the beautifully landscaped gardens with hammocks swinging between palm trees. The on-site chef can take care of all your culinary needs, preparing kids menus or offering cooking lessons for guests. The chef is supported by an efficient team of 7 staff, seamlessly working behind the scenes to cater to your every whim. There’s also a separate garden suite - ideal for grandparents or friends, which is housed in the garden looking out across the lawn, where you might spot a cricket match.
Why Kids Love it
Hidden amongst the tropical planting lies a 74-foot water slide snaking its way into a plunge pool, separated from the main pool, which kids will love! When it’s time to relax after days on the beach, kids will enjoy the brightly coloured and cushioned TV room (which has a secret window where parents can check in on kids without disturbing them) as well as the cozy bunk room which is perfect for sharing with siblings or friends. There’s also a wonderful grown up cinema room with a projector, where all the family can get together. For parents with babies or toddlers, the host can provide a baby bath, crib and linen, high chair and indoor baby toys.
Things to Know
The property is hosted by a professional management agency who can help with any concierge requests. Rates include on-site staff, cleaning and gardening supplies. The property comes with a private chef who can prepare western and local dishes (full board is $50 per day, per adult and $30 per day per child aged 3-16 plus $10 per day for under 3s). All meal costs to be paid at time of booking. Taxes and additional services are not included: ask the hosts if you require transportation, nannies, massage therapists, extra housekeeping or a private driver. The house has plenty of parking if required.
About the Location
The villa is located on the south coast of Sri Lanka at Dikwella Bay. It’s 5 minutes’ drive to Dikwella Beach town which has restaurants, a bus and train station. Seethagalla Beach is 5 minutes’ drive west. The cultural city of Galle (1 hour away) is known for its car-free streets with architecture reflecting 16th century Portuguese, Dutch and British rule, including the 18th-century Dutch Reformed Church. Sri Lanka international airport is just under 3 hours away.
Accommodation Details
The villa has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. The open plan living/lounging areas are seamlessly connected to the outdoor terraces, with multiple dining areas. A teak staircase winds its way upstairs, past vast windows onto the 6-bedroom lined landing. Each bedroom is unique and features 4-poster or bunk beds, fitted mosquito nets and AC. There are 3 primary suites with kingsize beds, 1 twin room, 1 bunk room with 6 beds, 1 children's twin room and 1 garden kingsize suite. The children’s bunk room cleverly has a larger bottom bed for a nanny and one of the primary suites has an adjoining room with twin beds for smaller children.
Style Notes
Traditional elegance. The hosts have chosen a mix of local artifacts and Buddhist-inspired furnishings to create a culturally aware interior style. The charming 4-poster beds and exposed wooden ceilings add to the grand feel, while gorgeous spacious bathrooms feel luxurious and relaxing. This villa encompasses every creature comfort in abundance; a true home away from home, with luxuriously large beds, reassuringly lovely linen and a shortage of nothing. We love the large antique double fronted doors, the beautiful hand-made Vietnamese tiles and the colorful cushion and floor seating around the pool and garden areas for a laid-back, zen quality.
