Perks for the Parents

This magnificent beach villa overlooking the picturesque surf of Kudawella Bay was designed by a celebrated Sri Lankan architect. It sports private access to a beach with a beginner surf break and an art deco swimming pool carved into the rock. It sleeps 14 + 1. There is a stunning modern large infinity pool with seating, a shallow and deep area that has pool side dining, BBQ, and bar as well as sun deck. A dedicated yoga pavilion has been built in the grounds with breathtaking views of the ocean.

Why Kids Love it

Kids will love the table tennis table in the games and TV room, and the palm fringed extensive garden where they can run and play. The uniquely-shaped pool is great for kids and there is an outdoor pavilion with shade for cooling off or eating fresh seafood before relaxing on the sun loungers for an afternoon nap. Steps through the garden meander down to the private beach. Kids can learn to surf on the easy breaks at Hiriketiya, just 10 minutes away by car.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 days. An internationally-training private chef, housekeeping staff, groundspeople and 24/7 security are included in your stay. These teams are supported by a management team who will act as a concierge to ensure you have a comfortable stay. A baby crib with a mosquito net and a highchair are available if required. Nannies, drivers, therapists and transportation are additional services available on request. A yoga teacher can be arranged, and yoga mats are available in the yoga shala. There is also a dedicated massage room with attached bathroom and a masseur/se will come to the house.

About the Location

Claughton House is a hilltop residence with views overlooking Kudawella Beach and the Blowhole in southern Sri Lanka. There are many pursuits nearby including scuba and snorkeling, blue and sperm whale watching (October to April), colorful markets and eye-catching temples. A day trip to UNESCO World Heritage site, Galle Dutch Fort is recommended. Here you can enjoy the architecture of the lighthouse or clocktower, watch the sunset from the Fort windows or explore Pedlar Street’s art galleries, boutiques, gem and spice stores. The nearest international airport is in Columbo (approx. 2 hours, 50 minutes by car).

Accommodation Details

This residence has 5 bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms on 1 level. The master suite has a kingsize room and 2 showers. There are 2 more kingsize bedrooms, 1 has an additional single / twin. Another bedroom has 3 single / twin beds and the kids’ room has 4 single / twin beds and a bathroom with a shower. In addition, you’ll find a dining room that opens to the sunken living room and a kitchen at the back of the house. Outside is a swimming pool, yoga pavilion, gardens and beach access.

Payment policy
A 30% deposit will be charged upon booking, the balance will be charged at 12 weeks before check in. See the cancellation policy for specifics on those terms.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 12 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 12 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay. We strongly urge guests to consider travel insurance to help in the case of extenuating circumstances. Kid & Coe reserves the right to change these policies.
