Perks for the Parents

A stylish lodge for all seasons set in 18 glorious acres with its own hot tub, sauna and cocktail bar, a short drive from some of Vermont’s best ski resorts. It sleeps 14 + 1. Offering up plenty of peace and privacy alongside glorious mountain views, this spacious residence is well set up for large family groups. With a large hot tub, an indoor sauna, a fire pit, 2 ponds, and several living rooms including an adult chill zone with vintage arcade machines, a gym and a wet bar, parents will be just as entertained as their kids. During the summer months the upper pond is stocked with trout for fishing while for winter, the hosts provide everything required to enjoy the snow including snowshoes, cross country skis and sleds. Interior spaces are elegantly styled with both open and cozy areas to gather and relax in. Bedrooms are boutique hotel standard with luxury linens and the primary has a bunk room attached, ideal for those with younger kids. There are numerous hiking and biking trails straight from the doorstep and gourmet grocery stores, cafes and farm to table restaurants just 2 minutes away so parents can enjoy getting away from it all, while being close to everything they might need.

Why Kids Love it

Kids have the run of 18 nature-filled acres here with huge lawns, wildlife ponds and plenty of den building potential. For playtime there’s a playground area with swings, a slide and a sand pit, as well as various outdoor games for all times of year including croquet and sleds. During the summer months, the grounds are full of berries to forage for breakfasts and desserts, and there’s camp out fun to be had all year round, with an outdoor firepit for toasting 'Smores under the stars. Those keen to explore the local area have hiking and biking trails from the backyard, as well as kayaking, river activities and several excellent ski resorts nearby which cater for all ages. For laid back days at home there’s a dedicated kids’ den downstairs with books, toys, arcade games and a cinema style TV for family movie nights. There’s plenty of sleep over style fun to be had in the bedrooms with a bunkroom close to parents in the primary bedroom and a second kids’ room with single beds and trundles for or older ones seeking some space of their own. The hosts can provide a travel crib, a highchair, a baby monitor and bed rails on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 5 nights during the ski season; 4 nights during summer and 3 nights the rest of the year. There are stairs to walk up to the main floor where the living and dining room are, and no stairgates so younger kids should be supervised. The hot tub is big enough for the whole group but not suitable for kids; it is unfenced, and there are 2 unfenced ponds in the grounds so young kids will need to be kept an eye on whilst outside. There are working fireplaces inside, with fireguards provided for safety. There is WiFi and air conditioning throughout the residence, as well as a laundry room with a washer and a dryer. There is private parking on site and a car is recommended for getting around the area. The residence is able to host a small wedding or celebration with ceremony and reception space; please contact the hosts for events pricing. The residence can accommodate pets, with space for up to 2 dogs.

Luxury Vermont Lodge. Cozy meets sophisticated at this beautifully designed lodge home, with luxurious new furnishings and state of the art bathrooms. Inside spaces are bright, light and airy with a largely neutral palette that doesn’t detract from the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and fields. There are plenty of homely Vermont style touches including wooden ceiling beams, walls and floors, and a plethora of thoughtfully chosen art. The hosts have put much thought into the guest experience with luxury linens, large cozy sofas, fires and an elegant wet bar come cocktail den with sofas and arcade machines. We love the indoor sauna and the huge 8-person hot tub which is a wonderful place to relax and soak up the outside at any time of year.

Stowe, Vermont

Ski Capital of New England

Stowe is located at the base of Mt. Mansfield, Vermont’s highest mountain peak. From December through March, there is fantastic skiing and snowboarding to be had; during the warmer months, hiking, mountain biking, and fishing draw visitors to return. Families can find a few of their favorite things at the Trapp Family Lodge, run by the Von Trapp family whose story inspired The Sound of Music, and can tour the Ben & Jerry’s factory in nearby Waterbury.
