Perks for the Parents

This beautiful Georgian cottage, 10 minutes from Southwold, sleeps up to 6 and is a short drive from beaches and market towns near the Suffolk coast. It is a lovely family house, with a fully-equipped kitchen and family-sized dining area plus plenty of areas to sit and relax. Filled with books, paintings and furnishings to make it feel like a real home rather than a rental, it has a simple but luxurious feel. There is a large walk in shower as well as a freestanding bath tub, so bathing is a luxury and comfort. If you like to paint, there is an airy garden studio with skylight windows and view of the garden. It is the perfect base for exploring the beautiful Suffolk area and beaches, with Covehithe beach a 5-minute drive away and Southwold only 10 minutes away.

Why Kids Love it

There is plenty of space to play, plus a handful of board games and children’s books. There is a big garden and a summer shed to play in. The house is not far from 2 big beaches, Covehithe and Southwold beach. If you have bicycles, it is less than a 10-minute cycle to the local beach Covehithe. The house is suitable for all ages, although the staircase is steep and old, so very young toddlers may need extra supervision. Nearby activities to seek out include Southwold’s boating pond, the pebbly beaches nearby, fish and chip shops, Thorpeness Meare, and walks around the coast. There are cinemas in Lowestoft and a handful of other towns for rainy days. Note that no high chair or crib is provided; guests can bring their own.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights at weekends, 4 nights during the week and 7 nights during school holidays at half terms, Easter, July & August and Christmas. Stays must start on Fridays or Mondays. Rates shown are for short stays (Fri-Mon or Mon-Fri). Please contact the host for the discounted rates which apply for 7 nights or more. Note that the stair cases are old and steep, but they are closed off at ground level with 2 doors; as this was 2 cottages, there are 2 sets of stairs. Well-behaved dogs are accepted for an additional fee of £25 per booking. Parking is free and easy and the house has its own designated parking space. All the windows at the front of the house are double glazed.

About the Location

The residence is in the village of Wrentham in Suffolk, 10 minutes’ drive from the popular seaside town of Southwold, 5 minutes from Covehithe beach and within 20 minutes of the market towns of Beccles and Halesworth. It is 15 minutes’ drive from Darsham train station and 10 minutes’ drive from Lowestoft train station; it is very useful to have a car to explore Suffolk at large. The village is around 2.5 hours drive from London. There is a convenience store for all the basics 3 doors away and there are pubs walking distance away.

Accommodation Details

This 3-bedroom property is formed from 2 Grade 2-listed Georgian cottages that have been joined together. Downstairs there is a dining room and kitchen, living room and library, plus a relaxing garden room and downstairs cloakroom. Upstairs there are 2 double bedrooms and a large room with 2 single beds. There is a separate shower room and bathroom, both with their own WC. The 100-foot garden has an large airy artist shed and summer house, plus parking for 2 cars.

Style Notes

Georgian splendour. This Georgian cottage has traditional beam ceilings and a simple yet stylish interior packed with beautiful design details. Owned by an interior stylist, the house is light-filled and atmospheric. There is a 2-sided wood burning stove between the library and living room, and a newly-landscaped garden designed by award-winning RHS landscaper Laura Arison. We love the rolltop bath, the scrubbed pine dining table and the charming rustic details.

We had a wonderful stay at the Lime Blossom cottage. Eager to escape London right before it was shutdown, we booked the cottage at the last minute. Christina was wonderfully communicative and accommodating. The house is charming, with a great kitchen, amazing bathtub and lovely gardens. The town of Southwold was only a few minutes away with all of its benefits. Great butcher, local greenmarket, and cafes. We loved this trip and will definitely return!!

We had a lovely few days at Lime Blossom Cottage. The house is beautifully decorated and comfortable. Lovely deep bath, cotton sheets and proper feather duvets, well equipped kitchen and tranquil garden. Loved the unspoilt local beach. Christina is a great host and we enjoyed many of her tips. Looking forward to visiting again. Thank you
