This family home near the town of Ketchum is well located for outdoor fun, with hiking trails right from the back yard and access to community amenities including a pool and sports courts. Apple TV, with Netflix, Amazon, and HBO subscriptions and Sonos sound system will keep kids and adults entertained when you are not skiing, snowshoeing, biking, or hiking outdoors. The backyard is a highlight of the property, backing onto open protected land with miles of hiking trails that turn into your private sledding or backcountry skiing hill in the winter.

Why Kids Love it

This home is great for families with kids of all ages. The owners have 3 small children and have furnished the house in a family-friendly style. The kids room has a bunk bed and a crib; also provided are toys, kids books, and a vintage-style SEGA Genesis connected to the TV. Only a short distance from the town of Ketchum, you can run into wildlife while hiking miles of open trails right from the backyard. A shuttle bus makes getting around town or to the ski lifts easy, and there is a bike path right outside. Dollar Mountain is a great choice if you want your kids to learn to ski.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 days. Note that stairs are not gated and kids may need supervision in the backyard, which leads to open hiking trails. To make your stay easy, the home has a washer and dryer, a garage, and a private driveway. Guests have access to Elkhorn in Sun Valley, with community amenities including 2 pools and hot tubs, a sauna, parks with a playground, horseshoe pits, volleyball, badminton, basketball, shuffleboard, bocce ball, as well as tennis/pickleball courts, and more.

About the Location

The residence is a 5-minute drive/ 15 minute cycle from the charming mountain town of Ketchum, which has restaurants, art galleries, shops, and entertainment. The Sun Valley Lodge is also a 5-minute drive away as are 2 skiing lodges, Dollar Mountain and River Run Lodge. The residence is 20 minutes from Hailey Airport which has direct flights from LA, Seattle, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, and Chicago most of the year, and is 2 hours from Boise. Car rental is useful; there is also a local shuttle bus, running to the town and ski lifts.

Accommodation Details

This home has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and is set over 2 levels. Three bedrooms are upstairs - 2 master bedrooms with kingsize beds, large closets and ensuite bathrooms, and one room with a bunk bed, loft bed, and a crib, ideal for kids. Downstairs there are 2 more guest bedrooms (one with a queensize bed and another with a couch and a queensize air bed) and a bathroom with tub. The open floor plan downstairs provides a living room, dining room, and a kitchen, fully stocked for family chefs. There is a backyard.

Style Notes

Modern mountain living. This bright, light, and modern mountain cottage has all the conveniences for a relaxing vacation in the mountains, both in the summer and winter seasons. Light streams in through the large windows and the double height main living space is bright and open. Open fireplaces make it cozy in the winter. We love the modern aesthetic in this home - white walls, clean lines and contemporary wood finishes - along with the easy-living family spaces.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.

Ski mountains and fields of wild flowers

This lovely family spot has been a favorite for generations, thanks to its ski areas at Bald and Dollar Mountains, its miles of mountain trails and its wildflower-filled meadows. Kids adventure trails are great fun, family ski instructors know their stuff while in the summer, splash parks and swimming holes in Big Wood River equal family fun. For a true Sun Valley experience, hike up the Bald Mountain Trail and ride back down on the gondola.

We had the most magical time staying at Oleg's home in Sun Valley. It backs up into beautiful mountains and is located in a quiet, family neighborhood. Our kids loved the bunk room and we appreciated having so many great walking trails right from the house. We even say Elk a few times right from the house! Thank you for a great stay, Oleg!

We absolutely loved our time at the Sunrise Drive residence. The house was clean, well appointed and the owner Oleg was always available for any questions that popped up. The house is perfectly located in a beautiful setting and set up wonderfully for kids with tons of toys, two cribs, bunk beds and large flat grassy yard. We are a family of four and stayed with our close friends who are another family of 4 and we had more than enough space. The neighborhood was a safe, quiet place to ride bikes along a path. Oleg gave us a list of a million things to do in the beautiful town of Sun Valley and Ketchum only minutes from the house. We can’t wait to go back to check more things off the list! This place was amazing! We stayed with our three kids (5, 3, 8 months) and in-laws. Lots and lots of space, lots of toys, great kids' bedroom with bunks. Access is wonderful--both Dollar and Baldy within a 7-8 minute drive. Shuttle right outside the door. Walking/running paths also right outside the door. Oleg was amazingly helpful and friendly with frequent check-ins and went out of his way to make our stay easy and comfortable. I hope we get to come back soon!

We had a lovely time at the Sunrise Drive West Residence - house was perfect for our family, well appointed, just as described, and my kids had a great time. And while the house is right next to a mountain and it's super quiet in the evening, it's also so close to so many fabulous activities and the town, restaurants etc etc. Everything is super convenient. We had a great time and hope to return again! The host, Oleg, is extremely helpful and responsive, I couldn't give him and his family a more positive review. Thanks for a great stay!
