Swiss Alps

There’s one obvious reason to visit the Swiss Alps: those picture-perfect slopes. The main ski season here runs December to April and the pretty villages of Zermatt, Klosters and Gstaad are at the heart of the area. Sip hot chocolate, listen to the snow crunch underfoot and take skidoo or sleigh rides if your children are too young to ski (ski schools, by the way, will take kids from the age of four). Winter resorts become summer playgrounds with 62,000km of trails through alpine meadows, and cable cars and zip lines to try. There are also mountain railways to ride and hot springs to visit.
