For an authentic Greek experience, it’s hard to beat this traditional country home on the island of Syros, sleeping up to 6, with bountiful gardens, a small pool ideal for little ones and all less than a kilometer from a sandy beach. We love the spaces for families to gather and relax - from the terrace and shady garden table to the comfortable lounge and large bedrooms - along with the spacious light lounge with tiled floors and traditional furnishings. Juxtaposing the simplicity of indoors is the glorious natural outdoor space, filled with vibrant colors. This residence would particularly suit a larger family, or one with older children as limited baby items are provided, and would be great with children old enough to run to the beach on their own. Spend days rocking in the hammock, capturing the bougainvillea on your sketchpad or playing cards with the kids under the hazy summer sun. Nearby you’ll find pretty fishing villages to explore, and a perfect turquoise ocean for swimming, along with ferries ready to take you away for a day trip to other Cyclades islands.

Our favorite travel destinations are South East Asia and Latin America. We joined Kid & Coe because our house is very appropriate for children. All children who come here have a great time!!!

Syros, Greek Islands

The quiet life

This low key island in the Cyclades, southeast of Athens, is known for its culture and beautiful old buildings. It’s easy to reach by plane or ferry and has something going on at all times of year. Explore traditional villages, quiet beaches and Hermoupoli, the island’s capital, and be aware of a more European, optional, attitude towards swimwear on some of the lesser visited beaches.

The Manna Residence is a beautiful property to stay at. Starting from the approach via a narrow road with tall grasses leading to pure tranquility with plenty of space for kids to run in the well kept garden. The pool was the perfect size for my 5 year old, but without a ledge for my younger son to stand, it was less enjoyable for him, plus our stay was the end of October so the water was cool. While visiting Syros we enjoyed the more local vibe, compared to other islands. It was an easy/ quick drive to get to the harbor for food, shopping and the great Miaouli Square where plenty of local kids run, ride, and play ball in the evenings. To top it all off, Graciela was very kind!

We have has a wonderful experience of Syros thanks to Graciela. We are a family of 5 with children aged 4-7. Graciela organised car hire for us and met us at the airport to show us the way to her 100 year old dwelling. The accommodations was spacious and very clean. The children were delighted with an unexpected hammock and swing in the garden. She gave us advice on where to visit and eat and even did our washing one day! Every beach we visited had clear water and was warm and shallow, perfect for children. Beaches were not over crowded. The old town is so pretty and shopping and restaurants good. We throughly enjoyed our 1 week visit and will be recommending the island and accommodations to friends and family.

We loved staying at the Manna house! Graciella was a wonderful host, with great recommendations for beaches and restaurants on the island. The house itself is adorable and very private, the patio is absolutely full with flowers, and the pool is perfect for dips. The island of Syros offers a variety of beaches and a vibrant downtown, with a market bursting with fresh fruits and veggies. There is also an easy ferry connection to Mykonos if you want to check out a more touristy scene. One thing to note - you will need to rent a car on the island. Although it's quite small (we easily explored the whole island by car during our week stay) the terrain is mountainous and the roads are not safe for pedestrians. Graciella fixed us up with a cheap rental though and we were very glad to have the car. All in all it was a wonderful stay, and we'd love to come back some day!
