The Devon Road Residence
Perks for the Parents
This farmhouse in the heart of the Berkshires is set on 7 acres of land with space for kids to run free, and includes a treehouse and gourmet kitchen. Nestled on a quiet street, this open and spacious house is a wonderful place to relax, dine and enjoy the countryside views. In winter, skiing is possible a short drive away.
Why Kids Love it
The biggest attraction for kids is the enormous yard. They can explore the outdoor treehouse, play on the swing set, and enjoy roasting marshmallows over the fire pit. There are children's toys and books included, plus a kid's bedroom with twin bed.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 2 nights. There is a maximum number of 6 guests. There is a shallow stream rather far from the home; however, children should be supervised while outside. Stairs are not gated. There is ample parking, a large barn (which is not included in bookings), a grill and outdoor patio for al fresco dining. Families are requested to respect the furniture, as some is fragile and antique. Car rental is essential in this rural area. The nearest international airport is in Albany, an hour’s drive away, while Boston and New York City are a 2- and 3-hour drive away, respectively. Bathrooms include tubs and showers.
About the Location
The residence is close to Lee and Stockbridge and just off the Massachusetts Turnpike Road in the heart of the Berkshires. It is close to the area’s key attractions: Tanglewood, museums, great restaurants, parks, hiking, and lakes. The home is equidistant to both Lenox and Great Barrington, bordering Stockbridge and less than 10 minutes from the Red Lion Inn. During the summer, there are wonderful local farmer's markets and a plethora of outdoor activities. In the winter, a 20-minute drive takes you to skiing at Butternut. NOTE that there is a cat that lives in the barn, so it would be on the property during guest stays.
Accommodation Details
This 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom house includes a gourmet kitchen, dining nook, spacious lounge and smaller snug lounge with TV. There is a large stone patio and grill for outdoor entertaining in summer. The 4 bedrooms include a master bedroom with queensize bed and ensuite bathroom plus a shared hallway with a child’s bedroom with twin bed. The other 2 guest rooms both have queensize bed and their own hallway and bathroom, and feel separate from the rest of the house.
Style Notes
Country modern. The house has a wonderful New England vibe and is set up with luxury linens, down comforters and organic mattresses in the bedrooms, plenty of space to cook and relax in the gourmet kitchen and with open living spaces for entertaining casually or formally. We love the leafy indoor plants, the Moroccan poufs in the TV room, and the acres of land to play and explore outside.

The Berkshires, New England
Art and culture in the hills
For decades, artists and performers have flocked to the gently rolling hills of the Berkshires to hone their crafts. The largely rural region is a year-round destination for families: nature lovers can raft and kayak, ski, ride horses, hike a segment of the Appalachian Trail, fly through the forest on a zipline tour, or ascend Mt. Greylock, the highest mountain in the state. Art enthusiasts will love the Norman Rockwell Museum, the Clark Art Institute, the Williams College Museum of Art, and the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA), all of which offer special programming for children and families.
