Perks for the Parents

A stylish family home nestled conveniently between the sandy dunes of Scheveningen beach and The Hague. It sleeps 7 + 2. This light and spacious home is surrounded by a green garden with a lot of trees, in a beautifully quiet neighborhood. This area is the perfect starting point for trips to the beach, running in the nearby parks, cycling along the dunes or sightseeing in the city, which has a huge range of museums and cultural spots.

Why Kids Love it

This home is perfect for kids of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers. The house has a lot of toys and games, as well as a playground in front of the house where you can play soccer or ping pong (balls and ping pong sets available from the host). There’s also a crib in the home and toys for toddlers and babies, plus a sandbox in the garden. The nearby beach (Scheveningen) has a SeaLife center, bowling alley, pier with funfair rides, and more playgrounds - a kids paradise!

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 week. Safety notes: the house has 3 floors and a garden around the house in a quiet street. The private garden has lounge seating and a BBQ. It’s easy to park in the street - car rental is optional as there are bus and tram stops nearby. It’s 3 minutes’ walk to the 22 bus line or 10 minutes’ walk to Den Haag Wagenaarweg tram. It’s around 40 minutes from Amsterdam’s international airport (1 hour by train).

About the Location

The house is located in a green and spacious neighborhood between the city of Hague and the beach. The city center is around 15 minutes by car or bus; the sandy dunes are 5-10 minutes by car or bus, or 20 minutes’ walk. Just around the corner there’s an excellent cafe and a lush forest and park. A 15-minute walk will take you to Westbroekpark, where there is a boating lake, playground and mountain bike track as well as links to more green spaces and an interactive miniature village theme park. The Hague is a fantastic city for families, with child-friendly museums, lots of green parks and laid-back eateries.

Accommodation Details

The house has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, set over 3 floors. Downstairs, there is an open kitchen with a breakfast bar for 4, as well as a dining table for 6 and a cozy area with a fireplace and TV. Upstairs on the first floor there are 2 spacious and colorful bedrooms (1 double and 1 kids room with a bunk bed). This floor also has a single room, ideal for a toddler. On the top floor is the primary bedroom, with a kingsize bed and luxurious bathroom (with a large bathtub and shower) and a study. The hosts also have 1 airbed available for extra guests.

Style Notes

Homely and colorful. The property has been decorated by the interior designer host, with lots of love and attention to detail. The decor is colorful and full of treasures from the host’s travels. Patterns, wallpapers and a palette of warm tones feel welcoming and relaxed, while wooden furniture and bamboo textures add an eclectic vibe. We love the botanical artwork in the dining area, the wooden parquet flooring and the earthy ochre hues.

The Hague, The Netherlands

Dune-backed beaches and city-style culture

The Netherland’s third largest city is right on the North Sea, with dune-backed beaches busy with watersports fans in the busy summer months. It’s a great location for a city, culture and beach vacation, being home to many great museums including the Voorlinden contemporary art gallery. Trains run regularly to Amsterdam for easy day-trips and the whole of the Dutch coast is easy to explore from here.
