Perks for the Parents

A 2-minute walk from Anne Frank's house and 6 minutes to the Jordaan neighborhood, this compact and welcoming Amsterdam apartment overlooks the Leliegracht canal is only rented to families. De Negen Straatjes (The Nine Streets) neighborhood of boutique shops is a 10-minute walk away and there are great cafés just around the corner (Cafe't Smalle; Cafe Brandon). The apartment is set up for easy family living and includes a double sofa bed and beds for kids/toddlers.

Why Kids Love it

The apartment is perfect for younger children with plenty of baby and toddler toys on hand. There is a crib, baby bath, baby monitor, high chair and changing table available on request. Rent bicycles and explore the pretty canals and playgrounds that are littered through the streets. Hire a pedal or electric boat and take to the water, or to entertain brave older kids, try the Amsterdam Dungeon.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. The owners have a dog who will be away when you visit. Their cats, Toby and Dos, will be at the property during your stay. The living area is situated on a gated mezzanine level – young children will need some supervision. Car rental is not required as many attractions are within walking distance and public transit in Amsterdam is efficient and reliable.

About the Location

The residence overlooks the 17th century Leliegracht canal, a UNESCO World Heritage site and is a few minutes’ walk away from the popular Jordaan district. The apartment is in the heart of buzzy Amsterdam, proudly sitting between a cosmetics store and a café/restaurant. Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport is 30 minutes away by public transit. Westermarkt’s tram stop is a 5-minute walk.

Accommodation Details

This ground floor apartment has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The front door leads directly from the street into the kitchenwith a dining table seating 6. A study and the bedrooms are also on this level – a master bedroom with a double bed and a kid's bedroom with a toddler bed and baby crib. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and there is an additional guest bathroom. The living room is on a mezzanine level. Outside, there is a city garden.

Style Notes

Canalside living. The apartment is a former shop and retains its traditional high windows at the front that make the residence light and bright. The bedrooms are contemporary with white walls and pops of colour. From the kitchen you can see Westertoren, the city’s historical church tower. We love the quirky living room that you climb up to on a mezzanine level with its wrought iron gates, the period fireplaces and the 2 lovable cats that provide a fluffy welcome.

This was our first Kid & Coe experience and we absolutely loved it! Our family (mum, dad, toddler) came to Amsterdam to meet some friends for a long weekend and ended up booking the Leliegracht Residence for our stay. From the start, we felt so welcome and at home. Roelant and Marijn could not meet us in person but arranged for their friend to be there to meet us, which was great. They had left us detailed house notes as well as some recommendations for places to eat and things to do in the area, not to mention a beautiful vase of tulips on the kitchen table! Our daughter loved her room and cozy doona/comforter that was in the crib. Toby was their sweet senior cat and looking after him was no trouble at all! The house is spacious and the main kitchen/dining/living area had great natural light each day. I am in love with their kitchen table and big windows! The neighborhood was very walkable, easy to connect to the trams (which then take you anywhere and everywhere!), and had some great cafes and restaurants! We booked a canal cruise on our last night and it turned out to be docked just around the corner! Roelant responded quickly to any concerns we had (which were few). Leliegracht was a great choice for us and we appreciated being able to stay there! Thank you Roelant and Marijn!

The Jordaan, Amsterdam

Amsterdam's most admired area

This jewel in the heart of central Amsterdam is all tiny streets checkered with shops and cafés, well-kept historical homes and beautiful canals. It is a short stroll from Anne Frank House and many of the central galleries, museums and attractions, and there are markets on Mondays and at the weekend. Don’t miss the Westerpark, which has a petting farm and swamp adventure land, or taking a tour of the city by boat.
