Perks for the Parents

This 3-bedroom apartment in the heart of Jordaan, arguably Amsterdam’s coolest neighborhood, has a vast open living space, a quirky zen interior and fabulously fun kids’ rooms. It sleeps up to 6 + 1. There’s no shortage of space here for the family to get together and there’s even an extra studio nearby for a nanny / au pair (on request). The primary bedroom is on its own floor and is tranquil and spacious with its own bathroom. There’s a great coffee maker in case of any early mornings or late nights.

Why Kids Love it

The apartment is packed with toys and books and the kids’ room has a lovely wooden bunk and colorful wallpaper. There’s a desk for creating artwork or building Lego. The baby’s room has a wooden crib, a changing table, charming vintage bookcase and rocking chair with French doors to the garden. The dining table has 2 Tripp Trapp highchairs. The nearest playground is within 2 minutes’ walk and the Westerpark is a short stroll away with a cinema, large playground and kids’ pool area.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights. The apartment is conveniently located on the ground floor of the building with the kids’ room right behind the living room. The stairs have stair gates and there are cabinet locks for little ones. Public transport links to the rest of the city go from a stop at the end of the street. Fly into Amsterdam Schiphol airport, approximately a 25-minute taxi ride or 30 mins by direct train.

About the Location

This residence is in the middle of Jordaan, Amsterdam’s most vibrant and upscale area with leafy canals, 17th century houses, cafes, art galleries and hidden shopping spots. On the same street are cozy boutiques and over 12 popular restaurants including a one with a Michelin star, and plenty of others that are child friendly. Food lovers will delight in the food and art market every Saturday and Monday on the doorstep.

Accommodation Details

This apartment is on 2 floors with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and an outdoor terrace. On the ground floor is the open plan living room with sofas, a kitchen and dining area seating up to 6 adults and 4 kids. Also on this floor are the kids’ bedrooms 1 with a bunk bed sleeping 2 and 1 with a toddler bed (and single sofabed, upon request). The family bathroom with a walk-in shower is next door. Upstairs is the primary bedroom with a kingsize bed and ensuite bathroom.

Style Notes

Artistic Dutch delight. This loft-style apartment is airy and light with soft colors and white wood floors. The living space is a wonderfully open space for everyone to cook, eat and hang out together. Large art pieces adorn the walls next to vintage furniture and patterned rugs. We love the large pot plants that give a tranquil vibe, the kids’ rooms beautifully set up for playing, and the superb location in the beating heart of Amsterdam.

Hi, we are a lively couple with 3 young ladies (aged 1, 6 & 8 ). We love the area we live in and have lots of nice places to share. As restaurant owners we love to share great places to eat, go out & dine.

The Jordaan, Amsterdam

Amsterdam's most admired area

This jewel in the heart of central Amsterdam is all tiny streets checkered with shops and cafés, well-kept historical homes and beautiful canals. It is a short stroll from Anne Frank House and many of the central galleries, museums and attractions, and there are markets on Mondays and at the weekend. Don’t miss the Westerpark, which has a petting farm and swamp adventure land, or taking a tour of the city by boat.
