Perks for the Parents

This artsy loft apartment in the Marais district is calm, cozy and comfortable, just steps from Place des Vosges. It sleeps 6. The living area is very spacious with enough room to suit all the family and books, DVD players, Apple TV and games are in every bedroom. There’s a fully-equipped kitchen for families (including a juicer, coffee machine and food processor) and the host leaves a handy guide with addresses and activities for children nearby.

Why Kids Love it

There is plenty of room to play and relax and the host provides toys, DVDs of cartoons and family movies, plus a DVD player and Apple TV in every bedroom. The apartment suits all ages, but note there is no high chair. It is an easy walk to Paris’ most popular sights and there are parks with playgrounds close by, including one at Place des Vosges with sand boxes, slides and a jungle gym surrounded by elegant royal buildings.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. The apartment is on the third floor. There is a staircase (ungated) in the apartment. Cleaning and laundry can be arranged during your stay on request. It’s possible to rent 1 or 2 bedrooms of the apartment only on request. The hosts can also offer another apartment downstairs (sleeping 5) available to rent separately or in conjunction with this one, price on request. Car rental is not necessary: this area is well connected by public transport and parking (and driving) in central Paris can be tricky. Quiet hours starts at 10pm - please be respectful of neighbors and make no noise in the courtyard or staircase at night.

About the Location

The residence is located in the Marais district in the 4th arrondissement of central Paris. It’s a great location, 50m from Place des Vosges in a safe area with Vélib station just 20 meters from the building. This fashionable quarter has lots of restaurants and shops around, as well as several subways and bus stops nearby, making it easy to visit the rest of Paris. There are also playgrounds in local squares and family-friendly museums to visit. The Gare du Nord for Eurostar is 20 minutes away while Charles du Gaulle Airport is a 25-minute drive away.

Accommodation Details

This third floor family apartment has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There’s a large open living room with dining table for 8, an open eat-in kitchen with table for 4 and 3 separate bedrooms, on different levels, offering privacy for all. The primary bedroom has a queensize bed (140cm); the second bedroom has a double bed and the third loft-style bedroom also has 1 single bed. There are two sofabeds in the apartment as well, each sleeping one person. The main bathroom has a walk-in shower; the other has a bathtub (connected to the primary bedroom).

Style Notes

Parisian charm. This loft-style apartment has plenty of charm, with old beams and a cathedral ceiling in the living room stretching up 5m, giving it the feeling of a larger house. There are white walls and painted floors, accentuating the light, sunny and modern feel, punctuated with a mixture of designer and vintage decor. We love the main living space with its white-painted beams, the quirky lighting and the unique fireplace.

The 4th arrondissement, Paris

Ice creams, architecture and tourist sights

Pack comfortable shoes and get ready to explore: on the right bank of the Seine, the 4th Arrondissement is at the heart of tourist Paris and includes the Place des Vosges, the Centre Pompidou and the southern part of the Marais. Notre Dame is among the stellar attractions; don't miss the City Hall, often called the city's most beautiful building, and ice creams at Berthillon on Île Saint Louis.

Magic place, quirky and chic. Lot of space for a big family. Perhaps more complicated with small children. Will definitely stay here again.

Terrific third story walk-up bear Place des Vosges. Central to everything and a quick, easy stroll to the metro. My kids had a blast with all of the toys, games and movies while my husband and I enjoyed the decor and serene-ness of the space. We will definitely return! Sophie was relatively easy to get ahold of and her mom was so sweet!

We had a fabulous stay at the Francs Bourgeois Residence with our 3 year old and 10 month old. The loft is bright and airy with an amazing cross-breeze and cool relaxed vibe. The location is great for both daily necessities (park, groceries, etc) as well as unique Paris experiences. I would note that the property is best for confident walkers as their are a lot of stairs but overall the space is really welcoming for families!

We stayed at the residence for a long weekend. You can hardly ask for a better location if you like the Marais quarter in Paris. A few steps from the beautifully artistic Place des Vosges, you are on one of the main shopping arteries in the city. Food, drinks, shopping, art, you name it, you have it. The apartment is a jewel for Paris with lots of space and character small children will adore. Don't worry about the noise, the apartment is facing an internal court and is very quiet. It is light and airy. It is on the fourth floor without elevator, but there is space to keep your children boogie and rollers downstairs. Watch for the single bathroom, may become a bottleneck but nothing one cannot manage for a couple of days in the city of lights.
