Perks for the Parents

This beautiful and spacious 6-bedroom property with direct beach access is just outside Trancoso village, and set across 4 buildings to create a luxurious place to stay with family and friends. Built in the style of an Indian Village, it has rooms split across 4 smaller houses with walkways linking them and outdoor lounge spaces and hammocks shaded by tropical trees. It is in the Itapororoca Condominium, 2.5 km from the Quadrado in the center of Trancoso Village, with a 24/7 security guard at the entrance and beach surveillance during the day. There is a lovely shaded, rustic-but-comfortable ‘barraquinha’ for those who want to enjoy an occasional break from the sun. There is also a small massage cabana. The Oca Villa is suitable for groups of friends or family with children of all ages. WiFi is available in all communal areas.

Why Kids Love it

This gorgeous collection property is right on the beach with plenty of space for kids to play. There is a pergola with sunbeds on the beach and plenty of shaded spots. It is very safe, located in a condominium. The large central living area is perfect for unwinding together after a day in the sun. All bathrooms have showers only and are semi-open to the gardens. Two of the bedrooms can be set up as twin beds or double beds. While there is little provided for younger kids, the concierge can help find a crib, high chair and other baby equipment - please enquire on booking. Kids will love watching the action in the Quadrano - the town square - where the local children run and play football. Nearby activities include horseback riding, capoeira lessons and boat trips to quiet beaches and secret islands.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 5 days. The property is safe for kids; there is a sweeping staircase from the main central living space with no stair gates. Young children may need supervision around the property; the gate to the beach can be shut. The property is staffed with 2 maids Monday-Friday (8am-5pm), a full time cook (8am-9pm), assistant, barman and caseiro (over high season only). There is English-speaking concierge. Additional professional cooks, maids, babysitters, and barmen may be provided for an extra cost and paid for locally when requested in advance. Pre-arrival grocery shopping can be arranged - arriving to a kitchen full of food and a fridge of cold drinks is highly recommended. Transfers, tips, car hire, food and drink and additional staff are not included in the rates.

About the Location

This residence is 2.5km from Trancoso’s central square and is directly on a beach. Trancoso, in southern Bahia, is a relaxed and unpretentious beach town with a sophisticated clientele, designer boutiques, crêpe stalls and friendly restaurants. International visitors tend to fly into Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo and take a local flight to Porto Seguro. Transfers with trusted drivers can be arranged from Porto Seguro airport, 1.5 hours’ drive away; there is a private landing strip at Terravista, 10 minutes from the village; helicopter and private plane charters can be arranged for an additional cost. Car hire is recommended but not essential and can be arranged in Trancoso.

Accommodation Details

The property has 4 houses set in a lush green garden surrounded by the ‘mata’ vegetation. The central living area or ‘Oca’ is an open-sided building at the heart of the complex. The 3 additional surrounding houses are connected to the Oca by a deck path. The second house has 3 large bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms plus a TV room with SKY TV and a DVD player. The third house has 3 spacious bedrooms and 3 large bathrooms. All bedrooms have double beds. The final house has a kitchen, large dining room and the bar.

Style Notes

The concept of the property is a native Indian village, with the central living area resembling an Indian ‘Oca’ (a high-vaulted, open-sided thatched Indian structure). With local art, natural materials, swinging hammocks and a sweeping staircase through the living space, the look is relaxed, glamorous and colorful. Stunning thatched roofs are a highlight of the houses; bedrooms are spacious and bright and communal spaces have hammocks, loungers and shade. We love the easy beach access, the landscaped gardens and the glamorous, spacious living areas.

Luxury on the beach

Life is lived at a relaxed pace in this former fishing village turned barefoot chic hangout, an hour and a half's flight north of Rio de Janeiro on the south Atlantic coast. The beaches are beautiful - some fringed with palm trees, others with beach bars - and when the tide goes out, reefs create perfect natural swimming pools for tots.
