Nestled in the rolling Tuscany hills, this spacious and stylish villa is close to the thermal springs of San Casciano Dei Bagni. It sleeps 14. Whether you’re traveling with a multi-generational family group or sharing with friends, the villa has room for everyone to retreat and relax in peace. You’ll find a choice of areas to relax outside, whether you prefer dozing in the sun around the pool or sheltering in the shade in the vast gardens. Parents will also enjoy walking around one of the many local vineyards, tasting some of the local produce and discovering how the region’s wine is made, before purchasing a bottle or 2 for dinner.
Why Kids Love it
Children of all ages will love exploring the huge private gardens and splashing in the heated pool (15m x 8m). With 6 double bedrooms plus a twin room, there’s ample space to accommodate families of all sizes in comfort, as well as 2 separate indoor living areas for older kids and teens to have their own space. For chill-out time, the house has satellite TVs and a DVD player. With walking trails, cycle routes and horse riding available nearby, there are plenty of opportunities to get out into the fresh air and sunshine. Another great place to visit for a day trip is Lago Bolsena (56km), Europe’s largest volcanic lake where you can swim in the clear waters, go fishing or take a boat trip.
Things to Know
Changeover day is Saturday. Other arrival days are only available on request. A security deposit of €1000 paid is to be paid in cash to the owner upon arrival and refunded upon departure, subject to full inspection. Check in: 4pm. Check out: 10am. Air conditioning is charged at €0.80 per Kwh, payable locally. Extra heating is €8.00 per cubic meter, payable locally. End of stay cleaning is €250, payable locally. Two hours of daily cleaning is included (except Sundays). Guests are required to leave the accommodation clean, tidy and in the same condition as on their arrival. Any extra cleaning, laundry, maintenance and/or rubbish disposal required will be charged against the security deposit. Linen and towels are included (linen change on Saturday and towels change on Wednesday and Saturday). The pool is open approximately mid-April to mid-October. Please note that pool opening dates are subject to local weather conditions and pool maintenance requirements and that cooler months may not be suitable for swimming. Pool heating is charged at €600 - €1350 and €50 - €100 for temperature maintenance per day according to season and climate, payable locally. A maximum of 2 pets may be accepted on request only and with prior agreement with the owner. (€50 per pet per stay will apply, payable locally). Italian Visitors Tax is payable locally in cash (typically €1-€5 per adult per night). Please note that the use of any external caterers and/or contractors is not permitted.
About the Location
The nearest shops and eateries are available in San Casciano Dei Bagni, which is under 5km away, quickly reached by car. The town has a number of bakeries, restaurants and shops dotted around the winding, medieval streets, as well as ancient churches, the town hall and a 14th century palace to visit. With architecture spanning from the Etruscans and Roman eras and stunning views of the Val d’Orcia valley, this is a lovely town to have so close by. San Casciano Dei Bagni is best known for its thermal baths. Take a dip in the historic Bagno Grande (which is within walking distance of the town) or spend a day in luxury at Fonteverde spa to enjoy the warm therapeutic waters. Also nearby is Radicofani (20km) known for its staggering fortress, Cittá della Pieve (20km) for paintings of the artist Perugino. Siena is also accessible within 1.5 hours by car and Montepulciano, known for its famous red wine, can be reached in under an hour. The nearest international airport is in Perugia (1.5 hours away).
Accommodation Details
The villa has 7 bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms. On the ground floor you’ll find a kitchen with an eat-in table for 4, as well as a separate dining room with seating for 14 and doors leading to the garden. The living room has a TV, wood burner and access to the garden. This floor also has 5 bedrooms: 1 queensize ensuite shower room, 2 kingsize ensuite shower rooms (1 of which has a chromotherapy shower and garden access), 1 super kingsize ensuite room with garden access and a further twin room. There’s also a laundry room and a study. Upstairs on the first floor, there’s another living room with a TV, fireplace and doors to a covered terrace, as well as 2 more bedrooms: a primary suite with a 4-poster super kingsize bed and ensuite bathroom with copper bath and shower attachment, plus another kingsize bedroom with an ensuite shower room.
Style Notes
Historic and rural. Built in 1798, this elegant and spacious home has been refurbished using traditional materials to retain its original charm. The attention to detail is sublime, paired with the vast garden - with 10,000 m2 of lawns, olive, fruit and oak trees, dining areas and a pool lined with sun loungers, surrounded by beautiful vistas of the countryside and shade from ancient oak trees. Contemporary styling and modern bathrooms bring a sophisticated touch, finished with a chic palette of neutral and earthy tones. We love the gorgeous exposed rustic beams in the grand living area, the antique bedroom furniture and the spectacularly huge fireplace hearth in the dining room.
