This apartment in a former monastery 30 minutes north of Siena sleeps up to 4 and offers the perfect setting for a Tuscan vacation, with olive groves, donkeys and chickens and a pool with views of the countryside. It can be rented with a sister apartment or as a larger estate for up to 22 guests. The property includes gardens, olive groves and plenty of space to relax. Trusted babysitters are available if required. Guests can make arrangements to have breakfast, lunch and dinner prepared on site using many ingredients right from the farm. A family favorite is pizza night around the 1000-year-old restored outdoor oven. Cribs, high chairs, car seats and baby toys can be rented upon request.

Why Kids Love it

It is a natural playground for children: they can frolic in the olive groves, explore the vegetable gardens and look for seashells in the soil left over from ancient times, or meet the animals that also live on the estate, including donkey, horse, pigs and chicken. With free range of the property, children can explore to their heart’s content. They can learn about the herbs planted and growing wild around the property, help feed the animals, relax by the pool or run around the gardens. There is a pool with unbeatable views of the Tuscan countryside, and a ping pong table. Children can take cooking classes too. Bike rentals are available.

Things to Know

Minimum stay for peak season June 15-September 15: 1 week with check-in on Saturday preferred. Shorter stays will be considered for all other seasons. The pool is ungated with no lifeguard. There are no stair gates inside the house and some ungated stone stairs outside as well - younger children may need supervision. The hosts also offer on-site cooking classes, wine classes and farm tours. Note that there is no TV at this property. The villa can be taken as a whole for larger groups as The Montecastelli Villa (sleeping up to 22) or with another apartment, The Frantoio Residence, sleeping a further 6.

About the Location

One hour south of Florence and 30 minutes north of Siena, this villa has a beautiful hilltop location with 360-degree views of the countryside in the town of Monteriggioni. It is perfectly located in central Tuscany for exploring all that this area has to offer. The local town of Colle Val d'Elsa, a 5-10 minute drive, is great for grocery shopping, pharmacy needs and dining out. The walled-in hamlet of San Gimignano is a 20-minute drive. Closest airports are Florence within 1 hour, and Pisa around 1.5 hours away. A car is recommended for ease of exploring the area. Accommodation Details

This classically-Tuscany 1-bedroom apartment has a full kitchen and dining area, living room with pull-out queen size sofa bed and fireplace, extra-large bathroom with tub and shower and a large bedroom with kingsize bed. There is a private outside pergola and access to explore the whole property, vegetable gardens, animals, as well as pool use. It is fully heated and air-conditioned depending on the season. It sleeps 4 with the possibility to add a crib.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.
