Perks for the Parents

On the first floor of a meticulously renovated medieval palazzo, this residence in Monteleone D’Orvieto is well placed for exploring nearby Umbrian and Tuscan towns, including Rome, Florence and Siena. There is a private spa with heated pool and jacuzzi, a library, a gourmet kitchen and a fully-stocked wine cellar for guest use; guests can enjoy as many bottles as they like and pay upon departure. The 11th century hilltop village of Monteleone has several restaurants, a bank, a butcher, 2 snack bars and small food markets convenient for daily shopping. Excellent boutiques, food markets, restaurants, ice cream shops, and historical attractions can also be found in neighboring towns.

Why Kids Love it

There is an indoor pool, plenty of room to play and relax in the house and a garden to run around in. The nearby town of Citta' del Pieve has an ice cream shop. Plenty of historic sights to visit, from Roman and Etruscan right through to Prehistoric sites. Montalcino nearby has a fortress and walled town. Sacro Bosco di Bomarzo in Lazio is worth visiting - a 16th century sculpture park of moss-covered monsters. Note a few safety concerns for younger children and toddlers. A crib can be provided. The host can arrange treats for birthdays and special events for a fee, including photographers, hair stylists, catering, bakers, and local musicians. Some board games provided.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 4 nights. Pricing listed is for occupancy of 6 people; extra guests over the age of 2 are charged at $60 per person per night. No pets. This residence does not have a TV. Maid service included. Grocery shopping, catering, a personal driver, cooking classes, wine tours, wine and cheese tasting, spa treatments, and on-site massages can all be arranged for a fee. There is a fireplace and central heating. There is an additional charge for pool heat in the low season (mid Oct - early Apr). For full details, please contact the host.

Mark and I have been collecting homes in beautiful places since 2007 in Italy and Mexico. We buy them, fully restore them, and make them available to guests! We love doing this and sharing them and take great pride in doing so!

Really really amazing place. The village is stunning, the views are breathtaking and we had a fabulous time in the pool every day. Not massively suitable for small children. The open steeps stairs to the cellar from the pool made it a bit terrifying, even for adults, could do with fencing off a little. Any issue we had we promptly resolved and we just loved the whole experience. The staff need to learn how to set up the cot though.... I had to wrestle with it for ages!!!! Wonderful place.
