Mealtimes offer the perfect excuse to gather together, with a family-sized dining room in the main house, a rustic cottage with a BBQ, sitting room and dining table by the pool, and an alfresco table outside the villa’s kitchen with an outdoor pizza/wood oven. For guests looking to sample local foodie scene, there are vineyards and pretty hilltop towns offering excellent food alongside seasonal concerts, a short drive away. The gardens are the perfect mix of wild trees and landscaped lawns with a table tennis table and flat, grassy areas ideal for games and picnics. The picture-worthy infinity pool is well set up for both confident swimmers and little splashers with a main pool and a separate shallow shelf for paddling. The surrounding lawn is kitted out with cushioned sunbeds and a rustic pool house with fridge and sofa set for post-swim snacks and chill out time. There’s a pizza oven, a BBQ grill and a Bluetooth sound system for laid back days/evenings in, and a satellite TV with sports channels for air-conditioned downtime. For kids keen to explore, the town of Perugia, a 20-minute drive away, has a chocolate factory and a weekly market so kids can help select ingredients to barbecue back at the villa. Nearby Lake Trasimeno makes a great day trip with pedal boats, bike hire and a beach with sun umbrellas a 25-minute drive away. A crib, highchair, bed rails and a baby bath can be provided on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 week in high season, from Saturday-Saturday; other seasons vary. City tax is charged separately on check out. Guests will be greeted at the estate’s Il Caldaro restaurant by the hosts and directed to their villa. The property is in a rural location within the Murlo country estate and car hire is recommended. There is private parking available on site. Please note that the access road to the property is a long, occasionally steep, private gravel road, and 4-wheel drives are recommended. The pool at the residence is ungated and younger guests should be supervised around it. The infinity pool is heated as a courtesy. The villa is air-conditioned throughout; heating is available during the cooler months. There is a laundry room with a washer/dryer in the pool house. The residence has highspeed WiFi throughout the villa and gardens. Larger groups travelling together can book neighboring properties on the estate, including the Santa Croce Residence and Monticelli Villa. Check in: 4pm; Check out: 10am. The host may be able to arrange for an earlier check in if required.

About the Location

The villa is set within the Murlo Estate, amongst beautiful hills and valleys in the very heart of Umbria. The region’s capital city Perugia is just 20 minutes' away and offers a wealth of cultural activities that include opera and the famous Umbria Jazz and Eurochocolate festivals. Florence and Rome are within 2 hours’ drive of the estate and Siena, Arezzo, Assisi and Orvieto within 1 hour. Other spectacular hilltop towns include Cortona and Preggio, 30-40 minutes’ by car, the latter with an annual classical music festival, as well as the annual Montone Film Festival. Lake Trasimeno which has biking trails and pedal boat hire is 30 minutes’ drive. For golf lovers, the Antognolla Golf Club is easily accessible from the villa. The closest airport is Amerigo Vespucci in Florence, 1 hour, 45 minutes by car. Car rental is essential and the concierge team can help arrange rental services or private transfers for your arrival/departure.

Accommodation Details

This property has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms split across two houses, with a main house sleeping 4 and an annexe sleeping 4. Both have 2 floors and no elevator. The ground floor of the main house comprises of the main living areas, including an open plan kitchen-diner with a beautiful, fully-stocked kitchen including a dishwasher and breakfast bar seating 2, and a dining table seating 8. Steps lead to the main living room with a fireplace, TV and elegant sofa seating. On the first floor is the primary bedroom with superkingsize bed and ensuite marble bathroom with a shower. A short staircase leads up to the second bedroom, also with a superkingsize bed and ensuite shower. Next door is the annexe with a superkingsize bedroom and ensuite shower on the ground floor, and a second superkingsize bedroom on the first floor, also with an ensuite shower. The charming, landscaped gardens include a mix of mature olive and cyprus trees with planted beds and lawns. The gardens include a table tennis table; heated infinity pool (4 x 14 m); sunbeds; a pool cottage with sofa set, dining table, fridge, grill and terrace pergola; several terraced areas with additional seating; and an alfresco dining table seating 8 with a wood oven.
