It sleeps up to 4 + 1. For those needing a little more space, this apartment can be combined with the 1-bedroom Pietramelina to provide a 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom apartment, all on 1 level, sleeping up to 6 + 1 baby. The hosts have thought of everything for a relaxing stay with kids. There are stair gates, a fenced pool with plenty of loungers, toys galore, and a private terrace with views for leisurely family meals al fresco. The hosts offer an in-house menu with a wide range of freshly prepared homemade Italian dishes you can heat, and even arrange a babysitter for a child-free evening or two.

Why Kids Love it

Younger visitors will love the play area around the swimming pool with its shaded pergola, play house and table football. Leading from the shaded terrace is a children’s play area. There’s also a wonderful tree house tucked away in the olive grove and maybe an excursion to the nearby river that has pools where you can swim or catch crabs. The swimming pool is fully fenced and has a shallow end with Roman steps, making it easy to enter for all ages and there is also a covered paddling pool for little ones. There are heaps of toys and books for young kids as well as high chairs, cribs, kids’ cutlery and more. Whenever possible, the hosts organize a weekly pizza-making session by the pool where kids can roll their own dough and select toppings before their creation is cooked in the woodburning pizza oven.

Style Notes

La dolce vita. This family-friendly apartment is bright and spacious and blends traditional features, such as exposed stone work and terracotta floors, with modern comforts. The living space is particularly spacious and light, benefiting from a south westerly aspect and a total of 4 large windows. The private outdoor shaded terrace is lovely for some peaceful time together as a family and there are views over lush gardens filled with lavender, hibiscus, figs and oleander. We love the uninterrupted views of the valley, the welcoming hosts and all of the provisions for a comfortable family stay.

In a moment of madness we decided to up sticks and move from Surrey to rural Umbria. With a baby on the way, little in the way of Italian and a derelict farmhouse to renovate, life for the first year was certainly very hectic! A few years down the line we have two children who attend the local italian schools, two cats, Charlotte and Blu and six free range chickens!! Now after 15 years we really think of this little slice of Italy as home.
