A stylish country estate set in 7 acre grounds, offering up beautiful mountain views, luxurious interiors and separate guest house accommodation. It sleeps 8 + 1. Beautifully designed interior spaces are perfectly set up for both relaxation and socializing, with 2 living rooms to choose from and a stylish open plan kitchen/diner for mealtime gathering. The primary bedroom is a particularly peaceful sanctuary for those seeking some quiet time, with its own private bathroom and separate hallway - yet close enough to the kids’ quarters to keep an eye and ear out. The separate guest house offers additional studio style living and sleeping space, ideal for older teens, grandparents or those travelling with a nanny. Outside, there’s plenty of room to roam and expend the kids’ energy, with a relaxing porch and furnished barn for parents to unwind in, while keeping an eye on the kids. For those in need of additional R&R, the Serenity Wellness Day Spa Center is a 10-minute drive away. Nearby Ancram has a good selection of relaxed eat out options including pizza restaurants and deli/cafes.
Why Kids Love it
Kids can live the country dream here with 7 acres of glorious space to roam, run and play in. There’s a nature pond for wildlife watching, hammocks for swinging in, outdoor toys and a converted barn with a firepit area for toasting s’mores. Inside there’s plenty to entertain with books, art supplies, and board games in the living rooms. For movie or games night fun there are 3 large TVs to choose from, as well as a games console, a DVD player and a popcorn machine for added fun. There are 2 twin beds (1 in the main house and 1 in the guest house) ideal for younger ones and there is more than enough space in the primary and second bedrooms for cribs. The hosts are happy to provide a crib, highchair, baby gates, outlet plugs, and a baby bath on request. For mini adventurers keen to explore, there are plenty of hiking trails from the doorstep and lots of family fun to be had locally with the Lake Taghkanic State Park, Bish Bash Falls, the Trevor Zoo and the Catamount Ski Resort a short drive away. The closest local town has a playground and a basketball court.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 3 nights. The residence is set up for 8 guests but the hosts are happy to discuss additional accommodation options for larger groups. The house is secured with keypad entry and has a private garage with parking for 3 cars; car hire is recommended to fully explore the area. The main entrance is 2 steps up from a garden path. There is WiFi, air conditioning, a washer/dryer and a boot room at the residence for convenience. Please note that there are 2 unfenced ponds in the grounds so younger kids should be supervised while outside. There are stairs inside, but stairgates can be provided There are curtains in the bedrooms but none on the bottom floor of the main house so when you are awake you don't miss out on the immersive nature views. The hosts kindly remind guests that this is a home and request that they look after it as such. If any problems arise, the hosts and/or their local management team will be on hand to help. Pets are allowed on a case-by-case basis; please message the hosts to discuss before booking.
About the Location
The residence is located in Ancram, NY, 2 hours’ drive north from New York City. The closest local town is Ancram, around a 6-minute drive away with cafes, restaurants, a playground, stores – and an opera house. Millerton with a slightly larger offering is around 20 minutes away. The residence is also only a 10-minute drive to Hill Rock Estate Distillery and a 10-minute drive to the Serenity Wellness Centre Day Spa. There are plenty of beautiful spots to explore on the doorstep – it’s an 11 min drive to Lake Taghkanic State Park, 23 minutes to Bish Bash Falls, and 25 minutes to the Catamount Ski Resort. Ancram is an ideal launch pad for exploring the Hudson Valley, around 30 minutes away by car but is also close enough to take a day trip into Massachusetts and Connecticut. The closest Amtrak station is 26 minutes away with trains to NYC. Stewart and Albany International Airports are just over an hour’s drive. There are several taxi and limousine services to choose from in the area.
Accommodation Details
The residence has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms split between a main house and a guest house. The entrance to the main house is on the ground floor via the porch, 2 steps up from the garden. Inside, there’s a formal living with a fireplace; a second living room with a TV, a small library, a fireplace, and a designated workspace. There’s an open plan kitchen-dining space partially screened from each other by a fireplace with armchair seating. The dining space on one side has a large table seating 8 while the fully equipped kitchen has a 3 door fridge/freezer, 2 large farm sinks, a double oven, a bar counter with seating and 2 sets of French style doors leading out onto the patio. On this floor there is also a boot room with a washer and dryer, half bath, and shoe bench with coat racks. Upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The primary bedroom is on its own at the end of a long hallway and comes with a queensize bed, a private bathroom with a walk-in shower and double sinks, double closets, a fireplace and a TV. The second bedroom has a kingsize bed and a built-in desk and the third bedroom across the hall has a large single bed with desk space and bean bags. There is a shared family sized bathroom with a bathtub, an overhead shower and a large sink. The Guest House is a short stroll from the main house and is laid out studio style all on one floor. It includes a living area with a fireplace, workspace, a popcorn maker, mini fridge and sofas on one side and a single bed and queensize bed with a large TV on the other. There is a full bathroom with a large bathtub and a walk-in shower. French doors open out into the gardens. Outside space includes a 3 car garage with space to park inside and out, a front porch outside the main house with seating, a back porch with alfresco dining table seating 8, a barn area with further dining table, seating and a firepit patio, hammocks, 2 ponds and acres of green space including both landscaped lawns and wilder spots.

Comfy seating, book-filled shelves and reading nooks are weaved in throughout to provide calm and relaxed corners to compliment the sociable open plan spaces. We love the elegant kitchen-diner, the perfect family gathering space with an iconic dining table, vintage cabinetry with a modern twist, cozy fireplace area and French doors which flood in the light, and those views!
