Perks for the Parents

A charming family home in suburban Vancouver, with a spacious kids room and plenty of kit for parents with younger children. It sleeps 4 + 2. The kitchen is well set-up with appliances and kids dinnerware to make mealtimes easy, and the hosts have Stokke Trip Trap high chairs (which can be set up for babies, toddlers, or young kids). It’s a short journey into downtown Vancouver if you’re here to see the sights, but the neighborhood is also ideal for families to explore, with a whole host of eateries and shops on Main St (15 minutes’ walk) and parks within a 10-minute stroll.

Why Kids Love it

The house has plenty of toys and books for kids under 8 years old. The kids play couch can double as a floor bed if needed, for 1 extra kids bed and the hosts can provide an additional travel crib on request. They’ll love playing in the lush, green and grassy backyard, which has a few outdoor toys, bikes and ride-ons to entertain. For family days out, head up to Stanley Park for the aquarium, a city beach, a water splash park, the Naval Museum and more.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights. Safety notes: all the stairs have gates on them and heavy furniture is connected to the wall. The hosts have an apartment in the basement with a separate entrance that has full time tenants. All entrances have stairs so it's not wheelchair friendly, but since there are only a few steps, it is climbable with a stroller. Street parking is available but car rental is not essential.

About the Location

The property is located in Vancouver, Canada. There are multiple coffee shops within 2 blocks and bus stops within 1 block. The best ice cream shop in town is just 2 blocks away, with grocery stores and playgrounds also within a few blocks from the house. Downtown is 15 minutes’ drive, for the city’s world-famous attractions including the Science World museum, Vancouver Art Gallery and Robson Square. The airport is also 15 minutes away by car.

Accommodation Details

The house has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. On the main level, you’ll find an open concept living space with a large kitchen island, an 8-person dining table and a TV area with a sectional couch. Upstairs, there’s a primary bedroom with a kingsize bed, 1 twin room and a nursery with 1 crib. The large bathroom has double sinks and a separate bathtub and shower. There is a basement with storage and laundry. Outside there’s a covered and heated back patio with a sectional outdoor couch and BBQ.

Style Notes

Heritage house. The hosts refurbished the home 10 years ago, but it still retains lots of original character. Large windows, light hardwood floors and neutral colors create a bright and fresh environment while the addition of Persian rugs and a mix of teak furniture makes it feel cozy and welcoming. We love the sleek white contemporary bathrooms, the charming front porch and the elegant wall art.

Manhattan with mountains

One of the world’s greatest, and most underrated, cities, Vancouver is at once a fresh-air lover’s paradise and a metropolitan hub, surrounded by mountains, forests and the ocean. Discover community centers with great play areas, watch sea planes land at the world’s only sea plane airport, or explore the mighty Grouse Mountain, the city’s favourite skiing hill. Kids will love the aquabus ride to Granville Island, along with the city's fantastic public library, which has a play area, crayons and daily story times in multiple languages. Older children can take to the water by kayak or stand up paddleboard or try the mountain bike trails in local forests, and beaches and pools which come alive in the summer months.
