Perks for the Parents

Retreat to a family estate in Veneto, close to the Prosecco regions, with a pool for the whole family and plenty of space to relax. It sleeps 6 + 1. Parents can relax in the shaded areas and on the garden loungers while the kids play around and swim within sight - the house and its annex overlook all the garden areas. There are 5 different eating areas: one indoors, one under the porch and 3 outdoor spaces, all shaded and perfect for family meals. A built-in BBQ is also available. Guests love the external shower and there are 2 adult bikes available to explore the area. The river nearby is perfect for a walk with kids and pets along the banks, while the Prosecco area (15-20 minutes’ drive) is an increasingly popular attraction, with wine tasting/buying available at many of the many wineries. Ask the hosts for wine recommendations from their family supplier - they are happy to personally welcome all families and offer attention and help during your stay.

Why Kids Love it

The private garden has plenty of lawn space for everyone to play sports and games. The hosts provide balls, racquets and many other accessories including a Fatboy beanbag (which kids love to carry around and squash) and camping tents. Play areas are directly accessible from the house. There is also a 14” trampoline with safety net, swings and a table football under the porch. A tandem bike is available to borrow, and an old (but restored) wooden hay trailer can be huge fun. There is a friendly rabbit in an outside shelter, which children usually love to feed. Indoors, a dedicated children’s corner offers toys/games and books for all ages, as well as a good collection of comics in several languages and DVDs for movie nights. Two excellent ice cream parlors are within cycling distance, and the equally excellent family pizzeria (with terrace) is 10 minutes’ drive. More sport facilities with tennis courts, beach volleyball and 5-a-side football fields can be reached in 10 minutes.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights. Bookings must start a minimum of 3 days after the date of reservation. This is a private family estate: the owners stay elsewhere when rented so that guests can enjoy the entire house and (fenced) garden in absolute privacy. The pool is open June to September (8.9 m x 3.6 m, and 1.3 m deep). Utilities are included in the price (within standard consumption). The house comes with a lot of amenities/accessories (including a pressure washer for your car and an air compressor for the bikes, inflatables). Only a few areas will be closed off to guests for privacy or security reasons. Pets (maximum 2) are also welcome on request. We have water/food pet bowls and also a kennel, while the pet shop and our family vet are both close by. All windows in the sleeping area have shutters to keep out the light and retractable mosquito screens are on all windows except the large door windows on the ground floor (which have curtains). The internet connection is good, with fiber (FTTC) and speed of up to 60mbps download and 18 mbps upload. The annex has a dedicated work space with wi-fi extension, sofa, desk and printer. The property is 50 minutes from Venice city (either by car or direct train) as well as the towns of Asolo, Maser and Castelfranco. License number CIN: IT026075C2GPXHDYJO.

About the Location

The property is located in the north of Italy, under hour away from Venice and in between the towns of Conegliano and Santa Lucia di Pave. The estate covers approximately 5,000 square meters in a fenced rural area, which makes it a great location for a family getaway. In 5-10 minutes, you can find a bakery, greengrocer, butcher, supermarkets, tobacconist/newspaper shop, petrol station, hospitals, shopping centers and more. Conegliano (10 minutes’ drive) has a train station and the airports of Treviso and Venice can be reached in 40-45 minutes. The core Prosecco area and its hills with plenty of wine cellars and sightseeing is around 15-20 minutes’ drive: there are almost 500 wineries, with traditions dating back many centuries. Half an hour away are the towns of Treviso, Il Montello, Vittorio Veneto, Oderzo. In an hour you can reach Bassano del Grappa and it’s 1.5 hours from Trieste and Udine. The sea can be reached in just over an hour by car (Caorle) or you can drive tothe mountains of Cortina d'Ampezzo in 2 hours.

Accommodation Details

The house has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. Downstairs, you’ll find the living area and kitchen, with a gas cooker, oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer with ice maker, water dispenser and built-in bar closet. There’s also a dining table and fireplace, a cozy living room with sofa/TV/art library, a children's corner with library/games next to the service bathroom, a reading corner, and a very functional laundry room with a double 30” high sink, which is perfect for cleaning up little kids (or washing pets). A comfortable and large staircase (70” wide and 7” high) leads up to the sleeping area. The primary bedroom has a queensize bed (160x200 cm) plus an extra single bed (80x200 cm), together with an ensuite bathroom with double basin and a freestanding bathtub/shower. The second room has a double bunk bed (140x200 cm) with the lower level at floor level, usable as a Montessori bed or play area (but can also sleep children/adults). This room also has an adjoining private bathroom with a walk-in shower. An oval wooden crib is available upon request. (The hosts also have a uniquely crafted, nautical-style bunk bed frame with 70x160 cm mattresses, but this is in a private space. Please contact the host if you’re interested in using this additional area).

Style Notes

Open and family-oriented. The hosts have many kids (and pets) staying here for more than 20 years. They have chosen to invest in the preservation of the ecosystem rather than exploit the land, so this area has grown into a park-like garden with many trees and plants, which provide a beautiful setting as well as lots of shade. Life here is basically outdoors – from the porch with its long hand-made oak table to the shaded areas under the lime or maple trees. Kids and adults love to lounge freely in and out through the large door window, with plenty of space for relaxing, games or reading. We love the map wall art and the huge green garden.

Veneto, Italy

Culture-filled cities, Roman ruins and gelato

This region of northwest Italy includes Venice, Verona and Padua, and along with the romantic, cultured and beautiful cities, you’ll find coastlines, lakes, valleys and mountains. The area is known for its wine, particularly Prosecco, plus its cheeses, salami and Tiramisu. Take the kids to explore Roman ruins and gelato parlors, swim in Lake Garda and shriek in amusement parks, enjoy boat trips in Venice and soak up culture in the Shakespearean haunts of Verona.
