It’s all about the location: Venice Beach’s Abbot Kinney Boulevard is full of quirky boutiques, great coffee shops and is just a few blocks from the beach. For an easy family holiday, look no further. The residence has space to sleep up to 6 in beds plus a further guest on an airbed and a baby in a travel crib.

Why Kids Love it

This fun apartment has a dedicated kids room with twin beds and toys, and a crib can be provided. It is a short walk from the beach and there are great playgrounds nearby. It is an easy location with a younger child as you can easily get back to the apartment for a lunchtime nap from local attractions.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 days. The residence is on the ground floor and is all on 1 level, with minimal hazards for young children. The back yard is enclosed. The residence is no smoking. An air bed is available.

About the Location

A fantastic location - should we say the best location in Venice? - just a few blocks from both the beach and the heart of Venice, but with parking too. LAX is a 25-minute drive away. Car hire is not essential. There are shops, cafés and restaurants within walking distance.

Accommodation Details

This spacious ground-level residence has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a small front courtyard with outdoor seating. There is a tiled shower room, an open-plan lounge and kitchen with seating area, 2 double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom sleeping 2 and a kids playroom.

Style Notes

Simple, easy with kids and with plenty of added fun. The open-plan layout make it easy to live in with kids, and the unique art and handmade cushions add a quirky touch. We love the octopus cushion and the basket of toys in the kids room.

We had a great time staying here. The kids loved all the toys (especially the dress-ups). It's super convenient, parking was surprisingly easy on the street and there's a little playground right behind the house. Thanks for having us. Ben

Comfortable and convenient apartment in Venice - 10 min walk to shops/cafe's on Abbot Kinney, closer to 20+ mins to the beach (but we were walking with kids !). Also really easy access from LAX with a hire car. We were travelling from Australia with a 6mo and 2 yo and having a base with a high chair / travel cot / kids toys made the trip so much easier to plan for. The outdoor/entertaining area is a shared space and is also right at our front door/window and so if the neighbours are using the space (they had a little late night get together while we were there ) it can get a bit noisy which is a little tedious when you have small / jetlagged kids ! A couple of small communication issues but overall a pleasant stay and we would stay again/recommend to others.

I had a mixed experience here. The place was as advertised and very cute and comfortable as well as relocated. The hosts answered emails promptly. The place was easy to use and there were some great toys in the kids room. During our stay I was very careful to take good care of the place. I was traveling with my four and almost two year old. I moved some breakable looking lamps out of the kids room, cleaned up after the kids, etc. The last night there my four year old had an "accident" and so I immediately stripped the bed, which had a mattress protector so no damage was done to the mattress. I moved the wet items to the bathroom so it would be obvious to the clean up crew that they needed cleaning. I tidied, put all trash in cans the next day before leaving etc. To my surprise I received word from the hosts that the cleaners had noticed the dirty sheets (which was no secret matter!) and they were disappointed with this and all the washing of bedding that had to be done. I was extremely apologetic and explained in my response to which I never heard back. I felt it was odd that a place geared towards kids would act like that. They didn't charge me but I thought it was odd. I'm sure my child is not the only one in the world to have an accident and I would be too uncomfortable to go back. I would say the experience there was great otherwise.

We really enjoyed our recent stay at The Abbot Kinney Residence. The location was absolutely perfect, the shops and eateries of Abbot Kinney are just a short walk away as is Venice Beach. Kris was a dream accommodating us in both apartments that were stocked full of everything you need for a family vacation from pots and pans, utensils, coffee machines, washer and dryer, towels, sheets and cosy stuff and not forgetting an abundance of kids toys for my girl to enjoy! Thoroughly recommend this residence, thanks for having us!

We had a lovely stay at this residence. Great location and lots of space. The kids toys and furniture were perfect for our 5 and 1 year old, and the owners were very friendly and accessible. We would stay again and Venice was a good location for families.

We had an absolutely perfect stay here! My husband and I stayed with our 15 month old son and it was perfect for him too! The family were very lovely and accommodating. The apartment layout was perfect for us and the kids room and toys were ideal for my son who loved playing with them all! Things like the portacot, highchair and safety caps over the power points were all great too. And the apartment was beautifully styled! We particularly loved the location as well, feeling like locals and so close to the shops and cafes. We would definitely stay here again when next in Venice / LA : ) Thank you again for your hospitality!

We loved our stay at The Abbot Kinney 2º Residence. The hosts went out of their way to make us feel at home, always readily available and really gracious with their suggestions on what to do and see nearby with our children. The decor was chic but accessible, the living spaces cozy, and the children loved their room with single beds and an abundance of toys, stuffed animals and books. The outside areas were an added bonus-they provided extra space for our family to stretch out and was the perfect place for the requisite dining outdoors in California. The only drawback was the lack of bathtub; it wasn't an issue as our 4 year old was fine taking showers, but it could be a challenge for those with particularly young children. Thanks again Kirk & Kristy for your warm hospitality!

Venice Beach, Los Angeles

Canals and Beaches

Soak up the sights and sounds on foot or by bike at Venice’s Ocean Front Walk - a 2.5 mile impromptu stage full of colorful artists and characters. If you’re feeling brave, Venice beach is a great spot for beginner surfers, otherwise relax in the sand. When you’re done in the sun, explore the manmade canals modeled after its namesake in Italy. Watch for ducks as they dart through the many arched bridges over the canals.
