Why Kids Love it

Kids up to age 12 can be added to most of the suites with 1 or 2 bedroom options for larger families (including renting a 7-bedroom wing). Children are welcome in the spa (age 3-14) under the guidance of an adult from 10-11:30am and 2-3:30pm when booked in advance. Amsterdam is known for being an extremely family friendly city: visit the beautiful Vondelpark (5 minutes’ walk) for playgrounds, open air theaters and boating lakes or head across town for the NEMO Science Museum.

Style Notes

Grand tradition. Once used as the city’s Sweelinck Music Conservatorium building, it has been transformed from a soaring institutional space and ornate century-old construction into a contemporary design hotel. Originally built as the Rijkspostspaarbank at the end of the 19th century, the building was conceived by the renowned Dutch architect Daniel Knuttel, who was praised for his ability to fuse simplicity and functionality. The award-winning Milan-based designer and architect Piero Lissoni has embraced this tradition through the reincarnation of this spectacular building 100 years later with contemporary updates including clean lines, contemporary glasswork and elegant simplicity. We love the double-height rooms, which naturally lend themselves to split-level loft-style rooms and suites, creating personality and individuality, as well as the glorious light-filled brasserie room and the striking glass-walled lounge.

Vondelpark, Amsterdam

Inline skating, weeping willows and multiple playgrounds

Ten million visitors a year can’t be wrong: the Vondelpark is Amsterdam’s largest city park, just to the south of Leidseplein and near some of the city’s key museums, and is one of its most popular family attractions. Play in multiple playgrounds sprinkled through its 120 acres, picnic, hire bikes or inline skates, or try outdoor art classes. P.C. Hoofstraat, around the east exit, is one of the city’s most desirable shopping streets, with concert halls, the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum a couple of blocks away.
