The expansive, open-plan living area is a key feature for families, allowing parents to keep a watchful eye on children while enjoying the chic, sun-drenched setting. A true rarity in the city, the private and enclosed back and front gardens offer priceless peace of mind, serving as secure playgrounds for children to play. What’s more, having 3 separate bedrooms, plus the separate downstairs den, ensures everyone has their own privacy and space for a peaceful night's sleep. Air conditioning is in place to keep you cool on August nights and the primary bathroom is a quiet retreat for parents, with a deep, long tub perfect for a tranquil escape, alongside a luxurious double rain shower.
Why Kids Love it
This is truly a great home for families of all ages, especially those with tweens and teens who will appreciate the extra space and activities. The home is designed for both shared moments and quiet reflection - children will find plenty of spots to read and feel cozy, with an abundance of books, board games, and puzzles for everyone to enjoy. Older kids and teens will love the basement kids zone, which comes with its own bathroom and kitchenette for snacks! It’s an ideal spot for movie nights, gaming sessions on the Wii, or fun sleepovers for up to 4 siblings or friends. There are instruments and a keyboard to inspire some tinkering or a full-on jam session too. For the little ones, a fantastic playground is just around the corner, and there's a basketball hoop down the street. Our vibrant, residential neighborhood is always full of kids playing and teens hanging out, making it a special place to experience local Amsterdam life.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 4 nights. Safety notes: the stairs are typical of what you’ll find in Amsterdam - most homes are on multiple floors, and there are no stair gates. The front garden is set back from the street (which is lively) with an enclosed area for the kids to play and a front balcony with chairs. There is a mini grocery store located across the street for convenience. Paid parking is available just outside the property. A bike is available to borrow during your stay and there are multiple bike rental stores around the city.
About the Location
The property is located 1 minute away from Vondelpark in Amsterdam. It’s 5 minutes’ walk to the Emmastrat tram and the City Bus down the street. This side of Vondelpark, Oud Zuid, is an idyllic location for Dutch and expat families alike. The neighborhood has great shopping, great restaurants, and is a happy, magical place to live that’s both beautiful and convenient. Every Saturday there’s a farmer's market at the square just one block away. Museums are a 5-minute bike ride or a 15-minute walk, and Centraal Station is around 20 minutes away by tram.
Accommodation Details
The house has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, set over 3 floors. The heart of the home is a spacious, bright and open-plan modern kitchen and dining room on the ground floor, designed for seamless flow. With floor-to-ceiling windows and rich historic details, the space provides a perfect place for connecting. Adjacent is the living room, a chic spot to lounge and unwind, with a working disco ball. A guest toilet on this floor makes entertaining a breeze. Beyond, the private garden is fully illuminated for twilight gatherings - an idyllic spot for cocktails after a day of city exploration or a dinner prepared on the Big Green Egg grill. Upstairs, you’ll find 3 sun-filled tranquil spacious bedrooms: a primary kingsize room with ensuite bathroom, a sunlit teen bedroom with a queensize bed, and a smaller bedroom which is currently set up as an office and quiet reading room, but can be set up easily with a crib if required. This floor also has a shower and toilet separate from the ensuite bathroom. The lower level is a fully finished basement - a versatile multi-purpose room designed specially for the kids, with a sectional sofa that transforms into 4 cozy individual beds. This floor also has a toilet and laundry room.
Style Notes
A curated home with a fashion designer's eye. This residence offers a blend of sophisticated design and effortless livability, making it an ideal setting for a family. The American host is a designer from a world-traveling family, now living in Amsterdam, so the apartment is quirky and sophisticated, with American ease. You’ll find a bright, light space with clean white walls, with whimsical color accents, designer furniture, accessories and art objects - an eclectic mix of classic and contemporary, new world, and old world. We love the tranquil bedrooms - simple and not over furnished - as well as the quirky egg hanging chair and the stunning traditional floor-to-ceiling windows.

Vondelpark, Amsterdam
Inline skating, weeping willows and multiple playgrounds
Ten million visitors a year can’t be wrong: the Vondelpark is Amsterdam’s largest city park, just to the south of Leidseplein and near some of the city’s key museums, and is one of its most popular family attractions. Play in multiple playgrounds sprinkled through its 120 acres, picnic, hire bikes or inline skates, or try outdoor art classes. P.C. Hoofstraat, around the east exit, is one of the city’s most desirable shopping streets, with concert halls, the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum a couple of blocks away.
