Set on a leafy residential street in Waterloo, this stylish residence is ideally positioned for exploring London’s pretty South Bank and beyond. It sleeps 4+1. A light-filled, welcoming home spread over 4 levels giving everyone space to unwind. The master bedroom here is on a floor of its own and comes with its own bijou terrace, ideal for stealing a quiet moment or 2. There are 2 pretty interconnected sitting rooms to choose from so parents can relax in one while the kids play in the other. When the warmer weather calls, there’s a charming outdoor terrace well set-up for alfresco dining with plenty of seating and a large wood-fired BBQ, perfect for laid-back evenings in. For those who prefer to eat out, there are plenty of options on the doorstep with the riverside restaurants of the South Bank, and the vibrant food stalls of Elephant and Castle a short walk away. The nearest tube station is just over 5 minutes’ walk with fast trains across the river transporting guests to central London in no time.
Why Kids Love it
Waterloo is the perfect base for a relaxed family vacation with plenty on offer for kids just a short walk away. The residence is 5 minutes’ on foot to the Imperial War Museum which is free to visit and has garden space, a playground and a café as well as the museum exhibits. Kids of all ages will enjoy trying out different foods from the array of stalls at Borough Market or the more chilled Mercato Metropolitano housed in a former paper factory in Elephant and Castle, with space to play. The South Bank centre, Festival Hall and National Theatre along Waterloo riverside area are a short bus ride or 20-minute walk away, with a seasonal calendar of events which will appeal to both kids and adults. The London Aquarium and the London Eye can also be found along the Thames path here, just across the river from Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament at Westminster. When some downtime is required, the residence is within easy reach and has plenty of indoor and outdoor space for kids to relax and catch up with a favourite movie or book.
Things to Know
This home doesn't have air-conditioning. Between June and September, we'll place fans in each bedroom. Please let us know if you'd like fans outside the summer period. Someone may come in during your stay to water the plants. If this is to happen we will let you know in advance. Two loveable dogs lives at this home. They won't be around during your stay, but this home may not be suitable for people with allergies. There are cameras in this home, however they will be switched off during your booking. Some noise from the nearby tube depot can be heard inside this home. Trains start running early in the morning and return late in the evening. There is a sofa bed in the third bedroom which can be set up for one. Please let us know when you book if you would like it prepared. This home is spread over four floors with no internal elevator. There are stairs up to the entrance, and no elevator. The fireplaces in the second and third bedrooms are ornamental.
About the Location
The residence is located on a residential road in Waterloo, ideally positioned for guests to explore London at their leisure. The nearest tube/subway station is Elephant and Castle, a 5-minute walk away – though Lambeth North is just as accessible at 7 minutes; both are on the Bakerloo line which has frequent, fast connections across the river to Oxford Circus and beyond. The Mercato Metropolitano market is a 9-minute walk from the residence while Borough Market is a 20-minute walk, or shorter bus ride. The Southbank centre, riverside restaurants, Hayward gallery and BFI/national theatres are also a 20-minute walk or 10-minute bus ride away. The river paths are fun to stroll along - to the Tate Modern (16 minutes) in 1 direction or the London Aquarium and London Eye (8 minutes), in the other. There are several bridge crossing points along the way if guests wish to explore the north side. The closest international airport is Heathrow, 50 minutes by taxi or car.
Accommodation Details
This residence has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, set over 4 floors. The entrance level has 2 sitting rooms, 1 with sofas, a chair and bookshelves – ideal for reading, the other with a corner sofa, a TV and a woodburning stove. There are 2 light, modern bathrooms on this floor – each has a basin, toilet and there’s a shower in 1 and a roll top freestanding bath in the other. Upstairs on the second floor are 2 bedrooms – 1 with a queensize bed and the other with a sofabed which can be made up for a fifth guest, or left as a sofa to form an additional play/work space with the use of a small desk area. The master bedroom is upstairs again on the third floor and has a queensize bed as well as its own small outdoor terrace area with pot plants. The kitchen/dining area can be found downstairs on the floor below the entrance level. It contains a modern, fully-stocked kitchen with a juicer, blender, double oven, and a kitchen island with a stereo system. The adjacent dining area has a table seating 6, an in-built working fireplace and a TV. Doors open from here onto the outside garden terrace with a dining table for 6, outdoor chairs and a wood burning BBQ.
