Perks for the Parents

This beautiful family home in the Karori suburb of Wellington, 10 minutes from downtown and the waterfront, includes cribs, toys and a lawned and leafy garden, and is close to great family attractions. Set up well for a family, there is space to play inside and out, and a great kitchen. There are beautifully-designed living spaces, a fireplace for colder nights and a great terrace/patio and garden for sunny days. With 5 bedrooms, there is plenty of space for a larger family; evenings are easy with kids asleep upstairs and parents relaxing downstairs.

Why Kids Love it

Kids love it because there is so much space. The large family home includes everything you could need for younger kids, including high chairs, cribs, play gyms, bath, toys, lots of books, and a fully fenced garden to explore. There is a bus stop at the end of the street making it easy and fun to reach the center of the city and the waterfront. Within walking distance there are plenty of appealing attractions for kids - a heated swimming pool, mountain bike park, playgrounds, kid-friendly cafés, a recreation center and a wildlife sanctuary included.

Style Notes

Modern living. The hosts have created a spacious and calming family home with playful kid-focused spaces and serene living areas downstairs. Decorative items include beautiful pieces collected from their travels, all coupled with kid-friendly materials and surfaces. We love the sensational garden, the map-themed bathroom wallpaper and the garland on the kids bedroom wall.

We are a family of five - mum and dad with two daughters (2.5 & 1) and a French bulldog! We all love to travel, the kids are mostly interested in playgrounds, animals and swimming, and we like to soak up the vibe and drink wine.

Wellington, North Island

Cable cars and Maori culture

Wellington’s pretty city streets, waterfront promenades and vibrant culture make it a great choice for traveling families. Take cable cars to scenic vantage points and views of the compact city, visit wildlife sanctuaries and spot colorful parrots and frogs, and take in Maori performances - and a giant squid - at the Te Papa museum. One thing - be sure to pack well. It’s not known as ‘Windy Welly’ for nothing...
