Perks for the Parents

This luxurious hotel in the Meatpacking District has in-room workout classes, a rooftop pool and 360-views of the stunning Manhattan skyline. Book a suite + adjoining room to sleep up to 8. This recently renovated property has been updated to contemporary standards, whether you’re traveling for work, play or rest. Parents can work out in the comfort of their own rooms using the Mirror Workout Companion in-room tech, or book an in-room spa treatment with the hotel’s partner, Zeel. Families can take a dip in the heated year-round rooftop pool and if you can get away from the kids after bedtime, parents will love sipping cocktails in the elevated lobby lounge - the best way to end your day!

Why Kids Love it

This central hotel is ideal for those traveling with babies or toddlers: they’ll provide complimentary cribs, pack and play, and bath amenities including body wash, lotion, powder and diaper cream. Ask the restaurant servers for high chairs or kid-sized portions from the menu. For older kids, the team can provide coloring books or video games on request. It’s just 1 block from the nearest playground and sports courts and 2 minutes’ walk to The High Line, a 30-foot high park on an old rail line. It’s under 10 minutes’ walk to Pier 51 at the Hudson River (with a sheltered children’s playground), the new Little Island ‘floating’ amphitheater and the soon-to-be-built Gansevoort Peninsula, with a city beach, green park and watersports.

Things to Know

About the Location

Located on Ninth Ave and 13th Street, the hotel is in the heart of Manhattan’s vibrant Meatpacking District in New York City. Despite it’s previous notoriety for nightlife lovers and partygoers, the Meatpacking District has carved out a name for itself as a family-friendly neighborhood, thanks to the installment of the spectacular Highline Park in 2009 and its charming cobbled stoned streets. You won’t have to wander far from a huge range of eateries, restaurants and coffee shops and the hotel itself offers a sushi restaurant, a European coffee and cocktail bar, an American bistro, and an all-season rooftop bar. The nearest subway station is 14th/8th Av (4 minutes’ walk) while valet parking service is available from 7AM-12AM daily. The hotel’s parking garage is located at 111 8th Avenue: rates are $85 for regular sized vehicles and $95 for oversized vehicles per 24-hour period (or per entry).

Style Notes

Classic meets contemporary. The hotel has recently completed a top-to-bottom renovation across all areas, with rooms now featuring mod-styled sofas, wall-hung LCD TVs, hardwood floors, wooden headboards with warm backlighting and black leather accents. Beds are furnished with luxurious mattresses, goose down pillows and 400-thread count Egyptian cotton linens, and each room is fitted with a whole host of new tech: Google Nest Hub, a bluetooth Marshall Boom Box speaker, and new live workout classes streamed weekly by The Mirror Workout Companion. We love the graffiti-style modern artwork, the timeless walnut wood cabinetry and the skyline detailing on the headboards, referencing the iconic NYC views.

West Village, Manhattan

Everybody's favourite New York City neighborhood

In the heart of Downtown, the West Village is everything you could look for in a family-friendly, well located neighborhood. Cosy, cool and cosmopolitan, the streets are treelined, the restaurants are hip and the main drag along Hudson Street has a good choice of kid-friendly attractions and shops. It's a great base for a family in the city, with easy transport links for getting around.

The Gaansevoort is not only a beautiful hotel, the location is outstanding. It is just a couple of blocks from the Chelsea Market which meant we had access to wonderful and very family friendly food/dining experience. It is also close by to Little Island so we could enjoy time outside with the kids safely running around. It’s not far from the subway, cabs were always out front, and the service was excellent. The location is quiet which we greatly appreciated. The room was large for NYC. We had a really great time!
