Perks for the Parents

This sunny, contemporary home within walking distance of Woodstock sits on 5 acres of land with its own saltwater pool. It sleeps 6. The house is well set up for families with a built-in kitchen nook, breakfast bar seating and a separate dining area. There is also lovely outdoor seating on the large deck surrounded by trees. The primary bedroom has its own bathroom and views of greenery. The 2 twin bedrooms are ideal if you’re traveling with an au pair or nanny. Unwind on the deck, enjoy a swim in the saline pool, or explore the many charming towns around.

Why Kids Love it

The residence has tons of toys, books and games to keep kids entertained. Ideally kids will be age 4 and up as there is no highchair, crib or baby bath, unless you bring your own. The children’s room is decorated with colorful artwork and outside there’s space to roam freely in the trees or splash in the lovely pool that has steps leading down into it. When the weather’s warm wander around town to a local playground, or buy an ice cream and frozen yogurt at Nancy's of Woodstock Artisanal Creamery. The area is filled with summer camps, farms and wonderful activities to keep kids of all ages occupied.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 nights. The stairs leading to the upstairs bedrooms are ungated. Outside, there are steps off the deck that lead down to the pool. However, the deck is fully contained with a fence and several gates so young children are prevented from wandering down to the pool or out into the yard. The pool and yard also have a new perimeter fence. A trampoline is also on the property to be used at guests’ own risk. The house is about 2 hours driving from New York city, the nearest airports are in NYC (2 hrs, 30 mins' drive), Albany 45 mins’ drive).

About the Location

This residence is close to the town of Woodstock, New York – an 8-minute walk or a 3-minute drive. Woodstock is a charming place with a family-run grocery store, local wine and liquor store, and plenty of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. Nearby are hiking trails, local streams and swimming holes, small towns to explore, local music, playgrounds, art galleries and antique shops. Hunter, Belleayre and Windham ski resorts are within about 45 minutes.

Accommodation Details

This 2200 sq ft 2-story home has 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. Entering, you’ll find a hallway with a bench seat with storage for hats and gloves, a coat closet and a half bath. The open-concept living / dining area has a TV and sofas and a dining table seating 4. French doors open to a large wooden tiered deck with chaise lounges, outdoor dining tables and chairs, that in turn leads to the saltwater pool. The kitchen is open to the dining space with an island, fridge, microwave, hob and cooker. A breakfast bar seats 4 and there’s a small breakfast table too. Upstairs are all 4 bedrooms. The kingsize primary bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a shower and doors to a balcony. There is also a full / double bedroom, 2 twin / single bedrooms and a family bathroom with a tub / shower combo. For those who need to work while away, there’s an office.

Style Notes

Peaceful woodland retreat. This calming home is light and sunny with bright accents and pops of colour. It has all modern amenities including a fully-equipped kitchen and washer / dryer. The relaxed vibe externs throughout with large windows upstairs and down letting in views of the trees at every turn. The bathrooms are modern with metro tiles and marble vanity tops. We love the landing wallpaper featuring native wildlife you can see around the Catskill Mountains, the main bedroom with baseboard heating, a skylight and its own balcony, and the feeling of being in the great outdoors with everything at hand.

Payment policy
When a host accepts your booking, we will automatically charge your card 30% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance if the check in date is more than 6 weeks away. We will send you a balance payment reminder at 6 weeks before check in and you will be required to submit your payment to finalise your reservation. If a host accepts your booking and the check in date is 6 weeks away or less, we will charge your card 100% of the total cost of the stay on acceptance.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 15% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 15% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.

Shotwell Rd residence was an amazing and tranquil location. Plenty of privacy and wildlife. But also very close (walking distance) to Woodstock. The surrounding area offers great outdoor activity. Christina was a fantastic host and very helpful. I would definitely recommend the property.
