Fun loving couple who met in New Orleans Jazz Festival. Interior designer and musician melded this getaway from Los Angeles. We love to entertain, cook, and enjoy the outdoors. The change of seasons, art and music that comes with the high desert lifestyle is what draws us most to our home away from home.

Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree

Art, the desert and a dose of bohemian living

This town in San Bernardino County, California is great for a weekend getaway from Los Angeles or San Diego, and sits on the edge of the Joshua Tree National Park. Expect art, the desert and a healthy dose of bohemia. Rock climbing and hikes are firmly on the list of things to do nearby; add to that small animals, and nearby Pioneertown, a former Western set turned tourist attraction, and the kids will be happy too.

We had a great time at The Mountain View Trail Residence in Yucca Valley. My husband and I were traveling with our 2 kids (ages 4 and 7). We enjoyed hikes near the home (within 10-15 min.) and inside Joshua Tree National Park. The rock formations in the national park are incredible! We also went to great nearby food/shops: Frontier Cafe, The Dez, Crossroads, Natural Sisters, Wine & Rock Shop were our favorites. The home and location is very family-friendly. The home had everything we needed to enjoy cooking, hanging out and planning excursions. Our kids enjoyed the grounds, hot tub in the evening looking at the bright stars/clear skies, crafts/kid books/stuffed animals/games and so much more. A great spot for families traveling to the High Desert!
