Light, airy and Scandinavian-styled. This Victorian property dates to 1912 and has been modernized by its Scandinavian owners with a careful eye on the period features. The house is open to the ocean on one side and has a lush Mediterranean garden on the other. Floors are tiled, ceilings are high and the windows let in plenty of Riviera sunshine. Hyères, French Riviera

The Riviera’s oldest resort

With sandy beaches, watersports and pretty villages within easy reach, Hyères is an ideal location for a Côte d’Azur vacation with the kids. Not as popular as Cannes or St Tropez, it isn’t plagued by quite the same traffic in the summer months either. Explore the medieval old town, learn to kite or windsurf on Almanarre beach or hire a soft top car and explore the area’s villages, beaches and vineyards with the sun on your face.

We had a wonderful stay at the Alouettes! Hanna was a great host and helped us in every way! The house was beautifully decorated and spacious. After a day at the beach it felt like an oasis to return to. Our kids really loved it (aged 9, 7 and 4) and for them the kids bedroom was so cosy. The Scandinavian minimalistic interior was very nice and appealing. We also enjoyed the breakfast and dinners in the garden which was nice a quiet. Even though the road was close by we were never disturbed by it. A car is a must in the location. And we used ours to go to the beaches in the lovely Bregancon area. Both the beaches and the beach restaurants were very nice. All in all a great vacation and we highly recommend for families!

Lovely home however, very hot without AC in mid-summer. My suggestion is to add ceiling fans.

The Alouettes Residence was great. Hanna sent a detailed check in info sheet and information about things to do. The home was lovely. Great sense of minimalist style combined with rustic beauty of the home itself. (imperfect in its elegant beauty, which made it feel authentic and homey) The piano was such perk as our daughter plays and it was nice to let that be part of our travels. Nice soaps in the bathroom, interesting magazines around and a cute note from Hanna's kids. :) While we didn't try to beach which was walkable to the home, our kids (11 and 8) enjoyed nearby Almanarre beach and we all really enjoyed our day trip to Porquerolles island and the beaches there. We found a few amazing restaurants hidden in the nearby areas. The kids also really loved the Speed Kart (go kart) place. We found that La Capte the best spot for an easy meal and groceries. While there are a lot of amazing spots along the mediteranean, we chose this spot mainly due to the intrigue of the home and kid friendly nearby activities and we were not disappointed. Thank you Hanna, for being a thoughtful host and for sharing your lovely home!

Charming place, we really loved the house and outdoor space. There’s a small beach five minutes on foot from the house, we went there to swim. Hanna was a lovely host 😊 we really recommend going here.

Wow. Hanna's house is so beautiful. and so tastefully decorated. The pictures look like they were picked from a stylish Magazine set, but then you actually get to stay there. And it feels great. The calmness of the design, the large rooms with the big windows, letting the mediterranean breeze come in ...(when you open a window on one side, please remember to close the door on the other or you'll have some broken glass. Sorry about that, Hanna!). Perfect for families, with toys and books and a large piano, and the back yard. We went to a different beach every day, and every day there's a local market in a different village. Only thing to note is the house sits directly on the main coastal street, meaning great access to the beach, restaurants, shops (all within a less then 10 hour drive) but it also means you can hear the cars go by. Not huge trucks or Ambulances but still constant activity. Hope to be back, thank you for having us.

As soon as Hanna’s father opened the gate we felt right at home! The warm welcome was only the start of an amazing stay in Carqueiranne. The house is amazing! The outside of the property is exactly what you expect of the South of France, old windows with shutters, palm trees and a vintage je ne sais quoi feeling which makes you dream of freshly baked croissants in the morning and vin blanc in the evening. Entering the old house you are welcomed by a minimalistic Scandinavian interior which reinforces the beauty of the environment. Vintage, charming, great energy, elegant, minimalistic and going straight to your heart are a few words I would use to describe this home. It is big and spacy so the kids can hang out and play while you are enjoying life the French way…with lots of vin et fromage. What I loved most is the downstairs bathroom right at the entrance of the house. Very practical when you come back from the beach; the kids jump right into the bath or shower (or both) so the sand is not all over the place ;). So big the whole family can get ready at the same time! If you want more privacy there is an en suite bathroom as well! Just make sure to use anti mosquito sticks, cause you don’t want them to disturb your stay... Carqueiranne and the area are beautiful to discover without being to touristic. You’ll find little playgrounds on your walks so everybody stays happy. Make sure you don’t miss the local bakery for freshly baked croissants. You will need nothing more. A 5 minute walk will bring you to the beach, but most of the time we took the car a bit further (10 minutes) to La Bergerie. There the sea is a bit more quiet & not as deep so the children could play safely without getting lost on an enormous beach. Just distract them while you drive past Magic World or they want to go there every night. My children (7 & 5) loved the piano and the secret outside garden; climbing in the trees and playing hide and seek kept them entertained for hours! They barely looked at the toys and dozens of DVD’s in the house. My husband loved the open kitchen, the hills for cycling and the horse races in Hyères. And I? I fell in love with this beautiful place that brought a smile to my family’s face and where we could sit outside and enjoy each other’s company. I’ve got a zillion pictures for interior inspiration that are Pinterest worthy! It even took me 2 days to realize we forgot to ask for the wifi code ;). It was the first time we rented a home, but I can tell you; we are done with hotels! Hannah your house is amazing and we are happy to have called it our home for 2 weeks! Say hi to your lovely dad from us. Little side note on Kid & Coe, your service was amazing and I was pleasantly surprised when you’ve called us to check if all was okay with us. Enjoy your stay here and thank me later! Birgit

We had a fantastic stay at the Alouettes residence in Hyeres. The house offered plenty of space and a great outdoor area that the kids thoroughly enjoyed (as well as all the cool toys inside!). The home is close to a number of excellent beaches and interesting sites to see, from the beach that is just a short walk/drive down the road to St. Clair and the island of Porquerolles, Bormes-les-Mimosas and the village of Hyeres itself — all beautifully, deliciously French! Looking forward to a return trip :o)

We had a lovely stay In Hyres in Easter 2016. Would definitely recommend this time of year as the beaches were sometimes deserted expect for us and being Brits, any sort of sun is wonderful so we weren't aiming for high summer heat. The islands were gorgeous. Hanna and her family were so helpful with a few teething problems which can be expected in "authentic" residences such as these.
